Hello Crafty Mavens! Today we have ColieBing with Sketch it Out Thursday!
I did a quick google search for double page layouts including a 5×7 sized photos, printed out two that were very similar as far as the photo placements and sort of merged the two during my process. I purposely went for minimal product and a simple layout. This is a common theme I like to use especially when I know the layout is going into a family members album, and not my own. I left the journaling strips blank so that my sister can fill in any information she wants to later on-ColieBing-
Thanks for stopping by!! Come on over to our facebook group and share the layouts you make with our design teams inspiration!!
I want to share with you what was up on The Crafty Maven Getaway on Free Flow Wednesday. I love Wednesday and seeing the scrapbookers’ style shine through. That is what Wednesday is all about!!
On Wednesday, Scraps by Jen and Abcdeli are sharing layouts on the channel.
Elisabetta has just a lovely simple style and I love her use of white space. Even in the layout she shares this week she really uses the space in a fun way. I love how she adds fun embellishments to the frames on her background patterned paper from Maggie Holmes.
Next up on The Crafty Maven Getaway is ScrapsByJen! I love her style and for completely different reasons then Elisabetta’s. I love how Jen’s layout makes you feel like home. I know that sounds odd, so let me explain. Some layouts and styles just have an ease to them, that you feel like you could create that or do that at home, with the stuff you have right now. They inspire you to pull out your papers and embellishments and get to work on something similar. Then you find out it’s not so easy to recreate, but it’s fun all the same trying to capture the essence of what was on their page. Jen also always has amazing photos on her layouts!!
Take a look at this week’s layout that Jen made.
I love how Jen used all the frames on her layout!! Here is what Jen said about making this layout, “I had a LOT of photos to scrap and really didn’t want to do a double page spread. The inspiration piece had me thinking a grid but then I saw this background paper and the thought of using it with frames came to me. It’s a busy page but a fun way to fit in a ton of photos.”
Aloha Crafty Mavens!! I hope You all had a very merry Christmas and are excited for the new Year!! I am already thinking up some ways to vamp up The Crafty Maven in the New Year as well as trying to force myself to be more productive so I can spend more time with my family!!
Isn’t that what scrapbooking is about our family anyway right?! This Christmas Season I have primarily been focused on my December Daily. Even though I love doing that album I tend to get bogged down half way because I am itching to scrap my love, which is 12×12 layouts! I haven’t taken the time to scrap layouts of any of the pictures I took this year. I set out with that in mind when I started this layout.
I printed my photo in black and white matte. I have been loving the look of matte paper this holiday season. I just love the colors better on matte paper. I really wanted to go with a very classic Black, white and red with pops of silver and gold that were so prominent in the inspiration piece.
My layout has lots of white space which really makes the red stand out and look amazing!! I let my layers have a playful feel to match the picture mood too. The picture is a candid photo of my kids with Santa and Santa is trying to tickle Samuel so they are all laughing. Santa is trying not to laugh but you see that twinkle in his eye!! It is one of my Favorites from this year!!
I scattered a few embellishments throughout the layout but tried to keep it simple. I feel the inspiration piece has a celebration element but but very subtle and I also wanted that feel for my layout as well.
Here are some close up shots of my layout!
You can Watch the process video on The Crafty Maven Getaway Here,
I also have a blog too, where I share layouts that I am working on, sometimes they are layouts, that I don’t have process videos for as well. My blog website is scrapbookpagesandcupcakes.com.
I hope you were inspired today!! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow and watch a Sketch It Out process video.
Aloha Crafters!! It’s Mix It Up Monday today!! The The Crafty Maven is off to a fun start using the new inspiration piece this week. Which is hugely inspired by winter and christmas time.
Here is a quick reminder of what the inspiration looks like.
I love what our Design Team Member Nicole made for us with this inspiration piece. She made for the channel these cute little embellishments.
Here is what Nicole said about her post today, ” I did something a tad different for Mix it up Monday! I made these cute magnets using a My Minds Eye 6×6 paper pad, Glossy Accents and magnets. You could also leave off the magnets and they would make for cute page embellishments too.”
Here is a look at them. They are literally as cute as a button!
