Perfectionism in Scrapbooking Mini-Series: Is It Perfectionism or Performance Anxiety? (Podcast Season 2 Episode 5)

Hello Scrapbookers!!! Crafty Meggy here with the final episode of our perfectionism mini-series.

We’ve spent the last few episodes talking about perfectionism in scrapbooking:

  1. Episode 1: Why getting started in your scrappy space is the hardest part → Read/Listen Here
  2. Episode 2: When perfectionism shows up in your creative process → Read/Listen Here
  3. Episode 3 (This Episode): Is it perfectionism… or performance anxiety?

When Pressure Feels Overwhelming

Sometimes the stress isn’t about making a “perfect” layout—it’s about performing for others, whether it’s a design team project, social media, or even just for yourself.

In this episode, we talk about how performance anxiety can sneak into your scrapbooking, affect your workflow, and make starting or finishing layouts feel overwhelming.

Key Takeaway

Understanding the difference between perfectionism and performance anxiety helps you:

  • Get into your scrappy space faster
  • Create without overthinking
  • Finish layouts without stress

Scrapbooking should be fun, and recognizing these blocks is the first step to reclaiming that joy.

Design Team Inspiration: Stunning Art Journal Spread with Jan/Feb Kit by Shannon

Hello Scrapbookers!!! Crafty Meggy here with some beautiful design team inspiration.

One of our talented design team members recently created a stunning art journal spread using our January/February mixed media kit, and I just had to share it with you!

This kit is absolutely gorgeous—full of vibrant colors, textures, and fun embellishments that make it perfect for mixed media projects. Our design team member layered the elements beautifully, creating a page that’s full of energy, texture, and creative flair.

Why This Spread Stands Out

  • Creative layering: The combination of patterned papers, embellishments, and textures adds depth and dimension.
  • Vibrant colors: The kit’s palette really pops, showing just how versatile it can be.
  • Art journaling inspiration: This spread is a great example of how to take a kit and make it your own, experimenting with paint, stencils, ink, and ephemera.

If you’re looking for mixed media inspiration or new ideas for your art journals, this layout is a must-see. It’s proof that one kit can spark endless creativity!

Perfectionism in Scrapbooking: When It Shows Up (Podcast Season 2 Episode 4)

Hello Scrapbookers!!! Crafty Meggy here with the second episode in our mini-series about perfectionism in scrapbooking.

Last time, we talked about how just getting started can feel like the hardest part. In this episode, we went deeper—talking about when perfectionism actually shows up for each of us during the scrapbooking process.

When Perfectionism Hits Me

For me, perfectionism usually comes out in the prep stage:

  • Picking a kit (or overthinking it!)
  • Deciding how many photos to include
  • Wondering if I really like the kit—especially if it’s for a design team project

It’s all those little decisions before I even glue anything down that can make me feel stuck.

And I know I’m not alone—my bestie shared her own moments when perfectionism sneaks in too.

Why This Matters

Recognizing when perfectionism shows up helps us:

  • Be more aware of our creative blocks
  • Stop overthinking every little choice
  • Actually get layouts finished without stressing

Because the truth is, perfectionism often steals our joy before we even start creating.

The Takeaway

Even if you’re a perfectionist (like me!), knowing your triggers is a huge step. You can still create amazing pages—without letting the “what ifs” slow you down.

💬 When does perfectionism show up for you? Prep, layout, or finishing touches? Share in the comments!

Scrapbooking & Perfectionism: What’s Really Holding You Back (Podcast Season 2 Episode 3)

Hello Scrapbookers!!! Crafty Meggy here sharing one of our latest podcast episodes all about perfectionism in scrapbooking.

As a perfectionist myself, this topic really hit home. But not in the way you might think.

Instead of just focusing on making layouts “perfect,” my bestie and I talked about something even bigger…

Sometimes the hardest part of scrapbooking is just getting started.

The Hidden Side of Scrapbooking Perfectionism

Perfectionism doesn’t just show up on the page—it shows up before we even begin.

For me, the biggest struggle has been:

  • Editing my photos
  • Keeping up with printing them
  • Feeling like everything has to be ready before I can scrapbook

And because of that, it can feel overwhelming to even sit down in my scrappy space.

Why We Get Stuck

In this podcast episode, we talk about all the little things that can hold us back:

  • Waiting until photos are edited and printed
  • Feeling behind on projects
  • Thinking we need the “perfect” setup to start

And before we know it, we’re not scrapbooking at all.

Done Is Better Than Perfect

Here’s the reminder we all need:

👉 Done is better than perfect.

Even small progress—editing a few photos or finishing one layout—counts.

Listen + Join the Conversation

In this episode, we get real about what’s actually holding us back and how we’re working through it.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed just trying to start scrapbooking, this is for you.
