Design Team Inspiration: Using Fibers for Texture and Dimension

Hello Scrapbookers!!! Crafty Meggy here with more design team inspiration to share with you.

Today’s layout is a little different and so inspiring! Our design team member, Miranda, who typically creates more traditional scrapbook layouts, challenged herself to try something new using the March 2025 Spring Blooms kit.

She incorporated more fiberous elements like paper and fabric, which isn’t something she usually reaches for—and it pushed her outside of her comfort zone in the best way.

Why This Layout Inspires

  • Trying something new: Stepping outside a traditional style
  • Paper + fabric layers: Adding texture and dimension in a different way
  • Creative growth: Using the kit to explore new techniques

She shared that this was a challenge for her, but in the end, she absolutely loved how it turned out—and I think that’s something so many of us can relate to.

A Little Creative Challenge

This is such a great reminder that sometimes the best projects come from trying something new. Whether it’s fabric, mixed media, or a different style, stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to something amazing.

Today’s project is all about layering and mixed media! Our design team member, Kristin, created a beautiful layout and walks you through how to create a layered mixed media layout in her video.

She used a combination of stencils and mixed media pastes to build texture, then added layers with patterned papers and fabric from the kit to create a rich, dimensional page.

Why This Layout Inspires

  • Layered mixed media: Builds depth and texture step-by-step
  • Stencil + paste techniques: Add beautiful detail and dimension
  • Paper + fabric layers: Create a unique and tactile look
  • Process-focused video: Great for learning how to build layers with confidence

I love how all the different elements come together to create a layout that feels full, textured, and cohesive.
