Kit It Up: Crystal Barrett

Hello! It’s Crystal and I am up to day sharing how I make a page kit. There are so many ways to start. What is inspiring you? There are so many things:

You could start with a photo.
You could start with a beautiful piece of paper that you have been hoarding.
You could start with an embellishment.
You could start with another layout that you might want to scraplift.
You could start with an inspiration piece. This is what I did. I looked at the mood board for February. My eye was immediately drawn to to the floral wreath.

With my inspiration in mind I went to paper. The paper that I chose was American Crafts Vicki Boutin Field Notes Choose to shine. This is the only paper that I have from this collection and to be honest I have been hoarding it. With the inspiration of the mood board I knew that it was time.

Next to find the perfect picture. I went through what pictures that I had on hand and found this cute picture of my daughter from Halloween when she was a butterfly. It is not the best quality picture. Honestly I can’t remember the last time I got good Halloween pictures. The colors in her wings I felt went really well.

Then it is time for picking out embellishments. I think that this is my favorite part because I get to look through all of the pretty stuff I buy. I decide that this layout is going to be monochromatic. So my plan is to pull out items that are black, white, and orange. I always pull out a little too much but that is okay. It will save time going back and looking for something else.
