Kit It (Crystal Barrett)

Hello everyone! It is Crystal with Pineapple Papers. I am up on the Crafty Maven YouTube Channel today. Today I am using a collection kit. I bought the Pink Fresh Studios Warehouse box. I received quite a bit of “a case of the blahs” collection. This is not a collection that I have a bunch of pictures for. I really wanted to use it because so many of the sayings are so funny. I have this picture of my daughter posing appropriately but I seem to have cut off the top of the T-Rex head.

I love when there is a perfect collection for the perfect picture. Make sure you head over the the YouTube Channel and Facebook group for lots of inspiration.

Kit it up: Simple Life (Crystal Barrett)

Hello everyone it is Crystal with Pineapple Papers. I wanted to share this layout with you today as a “Kit It Up.”

Sometimes it is hard to make your own kits. It is easier to join a kit club. That is a great thing to do. I belong to one as well. What I would encourage you to do today is to make your own kit with your stash.

Start easy find a product that you really love and want to use then you will be able to build from there. You could also start with a designer or collection. I have started with a designer/company: Felicity Jane. I love there stuff, which in turn makes me hoard it. For the month of June I pulled all of the items that were in the same color tones and built a kit to work with.

The inspiration board this month is a perfect match with my kit.

Head over to the YouTube Channel to watch the process.

Kit It Up: Crystal Barrett

Hello! It’s Crystal and I am up to day sharing how I make a page kit. There are so many ways to start. What is inspiring you? There are so many things:

  • You could start with a photo.
  • You could start with a beautiful piece of paper that you have been hoarding.
  • You could start with an embellishment.
  • You could start with another layout that you might want to scraplift.
  • You could start with an inspiration piece. This is what I did. I looked at the mood board for February. My eye was immediately drawn to to the floral wreath.CMG feb2

With my inspiration in mind I went to paper. The paper that I chose was American Crafts Vicki Boutin Field Notes Choose to shine. This is the only paper that I have from this collection and to be honest I have been hoarding it. With the inspiration of the mood board I knew that it was time.

Next to find the perfect picture. I went through what pictures that I had on hand and found this cute picture of my daughter from Halloween when she was a butterfly. It is not the best quality picture. Honestly I can’t remember the last time I got good Halloween pictures. The colors in her wings I felt went really well.

Then it is time for picking out embellishments. I think that this is my favorite part because I get to look through all of the pretty stuff I buy. I decide that this layout is going to be monochromatic. So my plan is to pull out items that are black, white, and orange. I always pull out a little too much but that is okay. It will save time going back and looking for something else.

I would love to know how you make page kits. Where do you start?

I have a process video as well over on the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube channel.
