Art Party-Believe by Jenn

Hello, Jenn here with an Art Party layout today.  I have been struggling a bit with my mojo lately, so this layout actually began as me just taking some time to play and be creative.  I had an old piece of cardstock that I had started a mixed media background on but I ended up not using for the project I was working on, so I kept it just in case.  I thought it would be helpful to pull out some of my supplies and just get messy for and this background was the perfect way for the me start off the process.  I added some whipped spackle through a stencil, some gold modeling cream, watercolours, and even some stamping.  I really enjoyed the entire process, but the paper was definitely a hot mess in the end.  There were a few places where the watercolours looked really pretty with the stamp on top so I thought I would punch those sections out with a hexagon punch and keep them as embellishments for a future project, but the more I punched, the more I enjoyed each piece that came out, so I just kept going until the entire page was punched out.

I liked the little hexagons so much that I decided to make a layout with them right away.  I used the negative space of the paper for the top of layout and then scattered the little punched hexagons down the bottom of the page.  I tried this on both black and white cardstock and definitely like the way the black cardstock really popped the colours and picked up on the black stamping.

I kept up with the inspiration by choosing a picture of my daughter accepting an award last year for her solo, which was such an amazing and inspiring moment for her.  I know how much hard work she put towards her solo and it really paid off.  The photo was a great reminder that even when you hit a rut, it’s important to work a little everyday to pull yourself back out and not let it get you down.  I added a doily behind the photo to give it a little separation from the background, but I kept everything else very simple to let the mixed media shine.  A few little words and phrases scattered on the hexagons and some enamel dots with them were all the embellishment the layout needed.

I added the title ‘Look what happens when you believe’ using various letter stickers, then used my white pen to draw some sketchy border lines and do a little bit of journalling.  I finished the layout with a sprinkle of gold modeling cream that I watered down so it would splatter with a paint brush.  This was a really fun layout to put together, and it definitely gave me the inspiration I needed to get creative again.  Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, Happy Scrapping 🙂
