Sketch It (Crystal Barrett)

Hey it’s Crystal with Pineapple Papers. One of our fellow design team members Christy who is Christy’s Beautiful Life over on YouTube is doing round 3 of 30 days of sketches. She always picks out the best sketches and when I can I like to play along. This sketch is from Ashley Horton. You can also check out Christy’s take on this sketch from 5/3. cmg may 2

I follow this sketch pretty closely. I even used hearts. The great thing about this sketch is that you could use any shape or even use those spots for embellishment clusters.
I love the stitched circle in this sketch as well, but today I was feeling lazy. I just took a plate from my kitchen and used a black pen and traced around it a couple of times. Offsetting each circle.

Do you ever have those lazy scrapbooking days where taking your layout 5 feet away to your sewing machine is just too much work. For me I may only have 20 minutes to play in my room and yes 5 feet is too far away.

“I chose an old layout from my oldest daughter’s baby album. I was inspired by the colours and the heart image in the mood board. I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe for the “cute” heart. I loved the challenge of scraplifting myself in my current style.”

Hey; hey; hey it’s Scraplift Saturday!

Megan and Christy got together to scraplift the same layout – a stunning creation by Jamie Pate

Up first is Megan who had this to say about her layout:

“For this layout I wanted to concentrate on the colors blue and orange. I use blue all the time, but orange is one of the hardest colors for me to use! I included a little bit of yellow as well, but mostly blues and oranges. I love these candid moments I captured of my son eating a meal and wanted to keep the layout simple, but also include a lot of layers and flowers. I feel like I accomplished my goal and love the outcome!”

“This week I wanted to take the colours from the inspiration piece and found them in my photos! These are actually summer photos but they had the right tones to them. The scrap lift from Jamie Pate was not something I would normally choose but I am in LOVE with the final results!”

Sketch It Out Thursday: Christy’s Beautiful Life & Rachel Reynolds

Good morning, Crafty Mavens!! I hope you’re all enjoying this new look on the blog! Emma did a great job and I’m so excited about all the new changes we’ve been making! I hope you’re enjoying all the inspiration you’ve been getting from the design team.

Today, I will be sharing a couple videos with you that Christy and Rachel made with this sketch:

This is a cute sketch!! I’m going to have to try it out this week!

Here is Christy’s take on the sketch. This is what she has to say about her layout, “Oh how I love a good sketch. This one was really calling my name right from the beginning. I took all the major elements and recreated them using my own style. My favourite part of the whole layout however was getting to use a pre-made word as my title, something I don’t normally do.”

Rachel also made a layout with this sketch in mind and she says, “Hello everyone! Welcome to Sketch It Out Thursday as Christy and I take on this Page Maps sketch featuring some bold patterns and a prominent title block. I decided to use quite a bit of grey, black, and white from this week’s inspiration, along with the fall feel it evoked.”

Hello, Crafty Mavens!! I hope you’re having a wonderful Monday, or Tuesday, depending on where you live in the world! I have a fun video to share with you today from Christy. She is sharing how to remake a little home decor cork board.

I really love the blue/turquoise color she painted over the green with!! I’m not much of a green person either and I love how bright the blue turned out to be! I think turquoise is a favorite color of mine right now. The embellishments she added to the cork piece are so cute! I love that little resin flower. It adds a lot of dimension and that bunny clip is so adorable!

The First Crafty Maven Getaway Online Crop

Aloha Crafty Mavens!! I hope you had a chance to hop over to The Crafty Maven Youtube Channel and The Crafty Maven Getaway Destination FB Group!! The actual Crop is over now but it is still busy over at the group as everyone is sharing the layouts they have been working on this weekend!! The challenges end on September 26th at 11:59pm EST, so if you were thinking you wanted to join in on some of the challenges you still have time to check everything out!! Here are the rules for playing along.

Here is a quick description of the challenges in the order the were posted over in the FB Group. There are albums in the photo section of the group for each of these challenges. This is also where the entries for the challenges need to go in order to have chance to be entered to win, in the challenges that have prizes. Not all of them do, so if you aren’t sure ask in the comments section of the albums and we will let you know for sure the details.

Marianne Giveaway (10 am EST) Paint By Numbers

PAINT BY NUMBERS
This challenge is to create a layout or 2 cards that contain the following:
–1 (one) kind of paint.
(gesso, acrylic, watercolor, gelato, distress etc.)
–2 (two) different colors of mist
–3 (three) total combination of stamps and ink..so for example: one ink and 2 different colors ink or 2 different colors of ink and one stamp.

Scrapping Jem’s Recipe Challenge 12pm EST

My challenge is to create a layout using the following “recipe”:
3 different pattern papers
1 card stock
The colors teal and gray
3 arrows
Some Chipboard
A travel themed embellishment (you layout does not need to be travel themed)
And finally something in your stash that is older than a year old

Kelly’s Speed Challenge 6pm EST

Kelly usually take between 1-1.5 hours to complete a layout. Every now and then though she likes to challenge herself to get a layout done much quicker. So her challenge to you is to create a page from start to finish between 30-45 minutes. Gathering supplies, papers, and photos doesn’t count towards the time frame. Now…if you a really slow scrapbooker, try and cut your time by half. This isn’t supposed to be stressful!

Katty’s Sketch/Recipe Challenge (7pm EST)

For Katty’s 7 P.M Challenge she has a Sketch/Recipe challenge where she will be giving away a $25 gift card to the store of the winners choice(you must post your layout to my challenge album here on the Facebook group) So for one entry you can follow the sketch or for one entry you can follow the recipe:1. Use a stencil 2. Use wood veneer in at least two places 3.Use twine or for two entries you can do both(as I did in my layout. This is going to be fun!

Nicole is going to be challenging us to make our own Backgrounds,Use Stencils, ink, and stamping to create a background for a layout!!

Hannah’s Kit Challenge 9 pm EST

This challenge is for the Crafty Maven getaway Destination FB Group Online Crop. The Challenge will be open for submissions until Saturday September 26, 2015 12pm EST. The winner will be chosen from random and will win a 25 dollar gift card from the online store of your choice. To enter your layout must be in the album that is marked for this challenge, which is in the Crafty Maven Getaway Destination FB Group. Your name will be entered once for using the layout and once for making a kit from your scrappy supplies and adding that picture in the album. Can’t wait to see what you make.

ScrapLift Saturday: Christy’s Beautiful Life

Aloha My scrappy Friends!!! Sorry this blog is a little late. This week has went by so fast, with school and housework, all the usually stuff that goes on with life. I hope today and this weekend has been nice for you scrappers and you have had a chance to enjoy your family, friends, craft time, great weather and excellent food!!

On Scraplift Saturday, Christy from Christy’s Beautiful Life made an awesome layout. I love all the thought and love she always puts into all the layouts she posts. The story and picture is first and the design always fit perfect with her story!!

Today Christy is scrap lifting a layout she saw on the Maggie Holmes blog. I love her interpretation!! The photo of her son is so precious too!! What a cutie!! I love how she mixed an older line from Crate Paper that is boy themed with elements from the Maggie Holmes Confetti line. It was perfect for scrapbooking her son’s first birthday!!
