Hello Scrapbookers!!! Crafty Meggy here with another fun and inspiring project to share with you.

Today’s inspiration features a brand new Mini Mystery Kit from the shop—and it’s such a beautiful surprise to work with!

Our design team member, Miranda, started her layout with some really fun mixed media work, building layers of texture and color across her background. She played with the Nuvo Mousse and mixed media elements to create something bold and expressive at the start of the page. Watch her video Here.

As the layout came together, most of that background ended up getting covered—but that was completely okay, because the final result was absolutely stunning.
She embraced the process and focused on building her design on top of those layers, rather than worrying about keeping them visible. The real stars of this project became the beautiful flower ephemera included in the Mini Mystery Kit.

These floral pieces brought everything together so perfectly, adding softness, elegance, and a gorgeous focal point that made the entire layout feel complete.
✨ Why This Project Inspires
• Mixed media background: Adds depth—even if it gets covered
• Flower ephemera: Beautiful focal point elements
• Layering process: Shows creativity isn’t always linear
• Trusting the outcome: Letting the final design lead the way
I love this reminder that sometimes the background is just the beginning of the story. Even if it gets covered up, it still plays a role in building texture and depth underneath everything else.
🎨 Try This Technique
If you’re working with mixed media, don’t stress if it ends up mostly covered. Build your layers anyway—it all adds richness to the final piece.
Then let your embellishments, like florals or ephemera from the Mini Mystery Kit, guide the final design and bring everything together.
💬 Do you ever cover up your mixed media layers—or do you try to keep them visible? Let me know in the comments!
