You Are Enough – Art Journal Page

Hello fellow Crafty Mavens,

You can watch the full process video of this page coming together here

I had so much fun with this months inspiration piece. I totally love the purple, red and blue tones!! I also manged to included some yellow and stamped/drew some circular elements too.

CMG Feb

To start with I took my Distress Oxide inks and smooshed three colours onto my pre- gessoed page. I didn’t want the whole page covered in colour so I love how the wrinkles in the paper prevented the ink colouring the page where the dips occurred.

Once I had my background sorted I flipped through a Daphne’s Diary magazine to find a page with colours I thought would work well as leaves/branches. I grabbed a die from my stash and cut a whole stack out. I wanted these to represent leaf litter on a forest floor.

I think I cut the girls from a old Frankie magazine sometime ago and had them in my stash just waiting for the right page to come along. I placed the figures on the leaves holding hands as if standing strong together.

I finished with lots of outlining, shading and white highlights to add details.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you pop on over to watch the process video.

Good To be Unique – Art party

Hello one and all,

I do enjoy playing in my art journal for my Crafty Maven Getaway posts. I always find something in the inspiration piece to get me going.

you can watch the process video here

This moth it was the colours, the paint swatches and the painting that looked like confetti .fb_img_1545573489684

I started off by add the soft yellows, greens and pinks layers to the back ground using Gelatos.

During this stage I noticed a shape that looked like a tree truck, so I went with it. I used torn strips of paper as they reminded me of the paint swatches.

Once I relised there was going to be a tree on the page I knew the leaves would be small hearts made to look like confetti.

All in all I love how this page turned out.

As always thank you for reading. – Cynthia x

Art Party Friday: CraftyMeggy

Aloha Scrappers!!  It’s finally Friday!!  Or in my case it’s Friday already?! Didn’t the week just start? I am not sure what it is with this time of the year but the days start to blend together and go so fast. It is hard to take the time to appreciate all the little things about life we as a family enjoy. But I continue to try just that. By taking time to scrapbook my families memories.

Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway Channel, it is Art Party Friday. One of my favorite days, I love just feasting on beauty. It’s like a breath of fresh air that helps me feel centered. Today on the Channel Crafty Meggy is taking the leap into starting to art journal. She took this scripture and let the words came alive on her page. The background color is so pretty. I also love the stamp she used in the corner of the girl. I love how with art journaling there is no right or wrong way, and it’s all about letting the process flow where it goes. Letting the words guide you in a direction. Megan’s piece turned out gorgeous!! Here are some close up pictures of her piece.

Mix it up Monday: M Barone (Marianne)

Helloooo, scrappy and crafty friends! I am excited to bring you a new Crafty Maven designer today!  M Barone or Marianne has a great style, very simple but classic!! I love watching her videos on her Youtube channel, you can find her link here. I love that she scraps because she loves it, watching her videos I feel her passion.

In honor of Mix It Up Monday Marianne decided to do a list layout, she has been wanting to do for a while. I will admit, I always but these types of layouts on the back burner as well, thinking I will do this later. Or who will care what my likes are in the future, but really I think it is a great journaling tool to use. Plus I think finding a list of my grandparents favorite music or things to do would be a treasure to find!! So why wouldn’t it be for our children or grandchildren in the future?!!

Marianne shows us a fun layout that documents her top favorite rock and roll bands. The techniques of tore paper add to the theme, and really makes this layout appealing! You can watch her process video here.

Here is a picture of how her layout turned out!! I love the look!! Perfect for this kind of documenting!! And I love the pops of red really makes this layout super fun!!
