this months inspiration piece made me think of my husband as one of the images on the rights looks like waves and my hubby works on the water.
This was perfect as I had just found a selfie of him on his phone and when he told me the story behind it I knew I wanted to document it.
I dived into my stash and found a nice diagonal stripped papers that had all the colours of the inspiration piece. I also grabbed the wood grain paper as it was a nice natural yet could be seen as a more masculine paper.
I wanted the layout to have a comical feel to it, with speech bubble and solid pops of black. I think with the ephemera separated (not clustered) this helps with that feel as well.
I also used a bright green zigzag paper behind to photo to extenuate this vibe. You can see this better in the process video.
Most of the ephemera is from the pink Fresh Studio “Case of The Blahs” collection including the big black Oops title, which brings the whole page altogether.
If you would like to see how the spread come together you can watch the process video here. Oops
This Sketch It Out Thursday layout is one of my favourites in a long time. I love how the small triangles all lead the focus to the photo.
I have created 3 small clusters in the corners which also help lead your eye around the page.
All the papers and embellishments are from The Wild Hare Kits August kit and include Pink Fresh Studio collections Simple and Sweet and Case of the Blahs papers and fabric labels, Crate Paper Here and There chipboard and puffy word thickers, and Paige Evans Pick Me Up papers.
Once I had all the papers laid out as I liked I lightly glued them down before stitching through them all with yellow thread. I love this little detail.
I popped the photo up to give its some dimension and to help it standout on the page and backed to whole layout on a black Kaiser Craft paper, which helps bring it all together.
All in all I love the way this page came together and I would love it if you popped on over to watch the process video. Great Memories
Aloha Scrappers!! Today is a fun day, aside from being Friday. Yay weekend is almost here!! This weekend is going to be jammed packed with fun filled activities because Saturday is National Scrapbooking Day. Let me tell you I am super excited about scrapbooking all weekend!!
Today for Art Party Friday I made a layout with a cut file that I got as part of my subscription to Clique Kits. I used my watercolors to color the cut file to match the net in my picture. I didn’t use gesso on the card stock , because I didn’t want to wrap the cut file too much. I tried to be careful and not over water my paper. With some glossy accents and a book resting on the layout for ten minutes the cut file adhered really well.
I also added modeling paste with a 3×4 Amy Tangerine striped stencil over the hearts on the cut file. It adds a really fun detail on the layout without being really busy.
I added up adding my journaling in the open space of the cut file. which adds a fun and laid back feel to this already fun layout.
I will say I completely forget about incorporating the inspiration piece this week. But you know I am ok with that. This photo really inspired me. I have been taking Lens of Joy by Ali Edwards, which has been helping me think about the perspective and things I want my photos to say. I was trying to take a really fun shot of the kids playing in this bouncy house at my Husband’s Ohana (family) day at work.
The kids were having a blast running races in the bouncy house. Their faces are filled with laughter, and I love the look through the net of the bouncy house. I was definitely was not going to get in the bouncy house to get pictures so having fun with my shots of them was key!!
I kept my layers simple and mostly black and whites. I really wanted the cut file to and photo to stand out.
I also color coordinated the clusters with the cut file. I really helps the colors pop more.
In the end I really just love how fun this layout feels. Perfect for Art Party Friday!!

Today I am up on The Crafty Maven Getaway for Art Party Friday!!
I really had fun playing around with the colors of this inspiration piece. They are colors that I don’t always use together, but really work well. I added some black and white with the bright colors to help make the cool mint and lavender colors pop on the layout. By using a clear gel medium, I created some texture without being overwhelming. I kept the embellishments simple also. With all the color on the background, I really wanted the gorgeous photo of my daughter to be the focus, because she looks so cute!!
I hope you were inspired today!! Don’t forget that to you ca find more inspiration and conversation over at our Facebook group as well, we would love for you to join us there. Hope you come back tomorrow for Scraplift Saturday!!

Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway Channel Asa is back!! I love Asa’a style!! It is always so out of the box, and so fun!! This week it is no different! I love all the color Asa used on her layout! I love all the banners on her layout as well, they really add to the youthfulness of the layout. Which is all about chocolate, so really what is not to love?!!
Today also on the channel is the talented Abcdeli. I love how she used the PinkFresh Studios triangles and they matched so perfectly with the nature theme in the inspiration piece for this week. She kept her layout simple, like her style but added some really fun elements like the glittered thickers and stitching throughout her layout. These elements really just added so much detail to the layout. Here is a look at Elisabetta’s layout.
