Twerk It Thursday: Mari Clarke and Scraps by Jen

Good Morning my scrappy friends!! It’s a beautiful sunny day today in paradise which is nice compared to downpours and flooding from yesterday. It was so bad yesterday I even started thinking of a escape plan for my scrappy supplies. In case of an emergency how fast can I move all my scrappy goodness upstairs in the school room, was on my mind. Thanks goodness it didn’t come to that, but in all honesty we should be prepared for a natural disaster. Do you have all your photos backed up, on an external hard drive, cloud (or other internet based storage) or just on your trusty computer? I have lost many dear photos and video clips (before my scrapping days) due to not properly storage my precious family photos. If you haven’t done this I would advise you think about how you want to store them and do it, twice!!

On to fun and inspiring things though!! All this talk needs me feeling like I need an inspiration pick me up! Today Both Mari and Scraps by Jen have taken a sketch and used it to inspire them at their scrap desk!!

They both did an amazing job!! This week’s inspirations pieces are very colorful and these two ladies really embraced that on their layouts today.

The colors painted on the cardstock are gorgeous!! I love the way it peeks through the cut files under the photos. The black and white photos really help bring out the colors Mari used. Jen used a cut file in a completely different way then Mari, but just as effective! She used different color papers behind the cut words! Inspired by a quote posted in watercolor from Amy Tan on her pinterest account, I had used this quote on an inspiration Tic Tac Toe board for the Victoria Marie Facebook Group. This quote is the perfect title for Jen’s layout!! I love how the color from behind the title brings out the colors in Jen’s photos, the flowers and stream with trees. Scraplift Saturday: DeAnna Scraps and TinaGale

Aloha Scrappers! Yay, It is the weekend!!! I love the weekend, we can relax. I can scrap all day sometimes!! This makes me happy. I also get to binge watch Youtube!! That makes me even more happy. I find so much inspiration on Youtube. And if I am scrapping I feel like I get to scrap with my friends even though they are miles away.

Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway DeAnna Scraps and TinaGale worked together to scrap lift a layout by Mari Clarke. The original layout by Mari has circles and banners, and is gorgeous.

DeAnna started the month off with a kit she made with her stash that was inspired by the inspiration pieces. When she started her layout she had to balance for her using this kit and being inspired by the layout by Mari. She went with her gut, and I love this. There are many times when we are inspired by so much and we need to learn how to not be distracted by all this inspiration. As good as inspiration is in the end we want our layouts to tell our stories and be us. Sometimes we need to set the inspiration aside and go with our gut. This is what she did, and I am glad she did. Her final layout tried out fabulous!! I love the detail in it, with the metallic texture paste. The circle elements in clusters and the layers banners. TineGale has also used Mari’s layout as well. I love TinaGale’s take. All the details on her page are amazing. I love the cut file she used. Seeing the background peeking through all the circles! All the layers and bits really tie together the layout too. I think the tiny tile alphas for the title work so well with the playfulness of her layout. You can watch her process video here. Aloha Crafty Mavens!!! It’s Spotlight Sunday!!

Mari Clarke on Youtube is our featured Poster today!! I love Mari, she is so sweet and a wealth of inspiration. She is so talented, doing mixed media and you see that reflected on her 12×12 layouts as well.

It being Sunday it is time to reveal the inspiration piece for the week of August 2. This week there are two photos. Very bright and bold colors with pops of black. I love the fresh and hip pieces on the bigger inspiration piece. Lots of citrus and feathers and don’t forget the all popular pineapple!! I admit I love the pineapple trend, makes me think about Hawaii.

I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with this week. We have a few new faces to the line up this week too, which is always fun.
