Happy New Year!!!! I couldn’t think of a better way to start the New Year than with some scrapping! Today I am up on the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube Channel and I am using this awesome sketch that I found on the Hip Kit Club Facebook page made by Michelle Wedertz.
This is a 12 x 12 sketch but I felt that it was very easy to adapt to a 8 1/2 x 11 page, which is the size that I am doing for our anniversary trip to Mexico. Today I am scrapping 2 photos 3 x 4 each on one 4 x 6 print. They are of the Cenote that we swam in. It was so cool. I added some crape paper for texture. The black and white paper is from Crate Paper Wild Heart collection as will as the chipboard and thickers.
My favorite part of this layout is the shaker pocket that I make with SpiegelMom Scraps sequins in Sweet Pea. All I did was fill an empty sequin ziplock bag with sequins and adhere the ziplock part under the photo. Poof quick shaker pocket.
I hope this inspires you to use some sketches in 2019. Tag me I would love to see what you make.
Hello. It’s Crystal and I am up today with a 8 1/2 x 11 multiphoto layout. Lets talk about multiphoto layouts. When I first started scrapbooking I mainly did collages. I would take a whole month of pictures from my son, cut them with decorate scissors, and glue them on a piece of pattern paper. Please tell me that I was not the only one! Fast forward over 14 years and I tend to put just one photo on each page. There are times that I cannot tell a story with one picture (or just don’t want to), but don’t want 12 pages for one day either…
I use a collage app on my phone to combine 2-3 pictures on one 4 x 6 photo. This time I printed 4 pictures on a 5 x 7 photo.
I like doing this. I will leave that in a 4 x 6 size which is my comfort zone or cut them up to be individual photos.
I am working on our anniversary trip to Mexico and decided to do it in 8 1/2 x 11 format. It is much easier for me to have smaller pictures on a smaller page. I am using the Crate Paper Wild Heart as well as Here and There. I added texture with crepe paper.
I have containers on my desk of left embellishments separated by color. So after I have looked thru the emphema that comes with the collection that I am working with I will go thru my left overs. I feel like this is such a good way to use up stash.
If you would like to see my process. Jump on over to the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube Channel.
This Sketch It Out Thursday layout is one of my favourites in a long time. I love how the small triangles all lead the focus to the photo.
I have created 3 small clusters in the corners which also help lead your eye around the page.
All the papers and embellishments are from The Wild Hare Kits August kit and include Pink Fresh Studio collections Simple and Sweet and Case of the Blahs papers and fabric labels, Crate Paper Here and There chipboard and puffy word thickers, and Paige Evans Pick Me Up papers.
Once I had all the papers laid out as I liked I lightly glued them down before stitching through them all with yellow thread. I love this little detail.
I popped the photo up to give its some dimension and to help it standout on the page and backed to whole layout on a black Kaiser Craft paper, which helps bring it all together.
All in all I love the way this page came together and I would love it if you popped on over to watch the process video. Great Memories
Hello everyone. I am back with a Stash It Monday post. For today’s layout I am using an older collection, Maggie Holmes, Crate Paper “Bloom”. For this page I kept the layering pretty simple and just stuck with pieces from the collection. I only added a doily and tissue paper from my stash.
I added a bit of mixed media on the background using my gesso first and then a few Shimerz – Inklings products.
I really like the texture the “i love you” embellishment gave the layout along with the tissue paper and doily.
I topped it all off with some die-cuts, enamel stickers and a few washi elements.
Thanks for stopping by. Make sure you check out the process video as well as join us on our Facebook page. Happy scrapping. Kelly
Aloha!! This week is flying by, and I won’t lie I feel so unfocused!! But thank goodness it’s Spring Break, so I suppose a little slacking is required right?!!
Today I am up on The Crafty Maven Getaway. I love when I can just do my own thing, scrapping my style! Let’s face it I love to create my own backgrounds. I love to just play on white card stock and make it beautiful. I find using acrylic paints my favorite way to do transform a background.
Today I used the colors from the mood board to pick out paint that matched. I used my fave blue paint (Studio Calico color theory DeJu Vu acrylic paint), copper (Martha Stewart acrylic paint), and then mixed orange and pink together to make a coral color. I then just painted blocks of color throughout my page. It’s that simple.
I knew I wanted to cut a cut file, my newest obsession, on top of the painted area. I picked a cut file that made me think of the pattern on the inspiration piece. I love that almost chevron looking pattern. ( I got my cut file from The Cut Shoppe, you can follow the link to Ashley Horton’s Etsy shop to see what cool files she has.)
I really had fun with patterned paper that matched the inspiration piece, corals and blues. I made pretty big layers, but since I only have one photo I am not worried about space as much.
To counter balance this I tried to keep my clusters of embellishments on the layers. keeping it all one space helps the layout not look so busy.
I tucked in embellishments that had texture and colors that matched the colors I was already using. This helps keep the layout looking cohesive because I am mixing different companies products together.
I love all the texture from this cluster!!
I made my title fairly small because I really wanted it to fit above the photo within the layers. I didn’t want to cover up the cut file at the top. I really was trying to not go crazy all over the layout. It was really hard. Sometimes we just have to go crazy and let go!
It’s Tuesday here at the Crafty Maven and that means – pocket style scrapbooking! Yay 🙂
We have Alicia up today with her video and to see more of her work you can check her channel out here:
Here’s what she said about her project:
“I used Notes and things PL kit and 6×6 pad for most of the layout and I ended up taking some hints of purple and grey from the mood board along with some of the wood elements but mostly I was inspired by the over all cool and fall/wintery feel to it”
Sadly she wasn’t able to take pictures of her spread but here’s a screen capture 🙂
We have two great videos for you today for our Scraplift Saturday; first up is froggie251 (Kelly):
For this layout I used a scrapbook page from Marcy Penner (marcypenner.com). I really like how she used a single layout for the layout and not a lot of layering behind the photo. I wanted to try something a little different than what I typically do so I thought that this would be a fun layout to scraplift. For the layout I mostly used items from the Crate Paper – Emma’s Shoppe collection. I thought the style of the collection went well with the older picture.
Here’s her process and to see more of Kelly here’s her own channel:
Next up we have Nicole with her take:
Kelly and I scraplifted a layout by Mercy Penner. I love it because the design is not one I would normally do on my own as I tend to do lots of layering. The 1/2 page design is very unique and such a fun use of embellishments. I used Amy Tangerines Finders Keepers line. (And really ended up straying from the inspiration piece as I ended up using brighter colors).
Aloha My scrappy Friends!!! Sorry this blog is a little late. This week has went by so fast, with school and housework, all the usually stuff that goes on with life. I hope today and this weekend has been nice for you scrappers and you have had a chance to enjoy your family, friends, craft time, great weather and excellent food!!
On Scraplift Saturday, Christy from Christy’s Beautiful Life made an awesome layout. I love all the thought and love she always puts into all the layouts she posts. The story and picture is first and the design always fit perfect with her story!!
Today Christy is scrap lifting a layout she saw on the Maggie Holmes blog. I love her interpretation!! The photo of her son is so precious too!! What a cutie!! I love how she mixed an older line from Crate Paper that is boy themed with elements from the Maggie Holmes Confetti line. It was perfect for scrapbooking her son’s first birthday!!
