Hello and HAPPY Friday!! In the US we get a 3 day weekend today, which is always fun and exciting!! I hope everyone gets some time to scrapbook!!
Today we have Mari up on the channel with a gorgeous mixed media art journal page. It’s been a while since we’ve had a design team member do an art journal page so I was excited to see that’s what Mari chose to do.
“In this art journal process, I explain what art journaling means to me and why I love to do it. I am journaling in my large Dylusions journal, and have used Dylusion paints, Gelatos, Neocolors, and other miscellaneous products. The theme of the project is “open your eyes to see people for who they really are.” I hope you enjoy watching this simple process.” -Mari
Here’s a photo and the video below of her project:
Hello Crafty Maven! Today we have TinaGale with Mix it up Monday.
For Mix it Up Monday I decided to pull out my new Journal. I only dabble with watercolors so this was really putting myself out there. I’m using the Created to Create stamp set that came in the Illustrated Faith kit along with their study guide. The first lesson is all about how when we’re young we think of ourselves as artists but along the way we start believing we’re not an artist and can’t be creative. It hit home with me and this is my page to remind me when I am hard on myself or comparing myself to someone else that yes I Am an artist. The stickers from the Simple Stories I Am collection was a great addition to my page. -Tina
I love Tina’s finished layout. Makes me want to go make something colorful.
Thank you for stopping by the Crafty Maven Getaway today. For more inspiration from TinaGale please check out her Youtube channel here.
Aloha Crafty Mavens!!This past week has been crazy for me, and I am not sure why. It seems we have been slacking and not posting every day, and I am so sorry for that!! I thought that just to check you up from the missing posts from last week, I would make a longer post today and list all the days we didn’t share the video.
This week then we will resume back to our normal blogging everyday.

Art Party Friday (Jan 29)
Adele (Inkie Quill) is creating in her art journal on The Crafty Maven for Friday. Her page is so pretty, I love the flowing hair of the girl on her page. The color just pops on the page too.
Watch Adele’s process here.
Scrap lift Saturday (Jan30)
Scifi Scrapper (Emma) and Crafty Meggy (Megan) are scrap lifting this really cool layout from Pinterest.
Here is Emma’s take.
“For our layouts today Megan and I picked a fun inspiration piece. I was drawn to the big band of paper at the top – I normally avoid ‘top heavy’ layouts and was looking forward to trying it out! In contrast to the layout we were scraplifting, our inspiration piece this week was bright and bold and certainty made a statement! I couldn’t wait to see how such different palettes changed the look of the layout design.
When creating this layout mainly pulled from Bo Bunny’s #Forever Young – the colours are a perfect match, as well as pulling a few other pieces in, such as the Bella Blvd flower and Studio Calico hearts. I even used an old decorative hair clip on my layout!
The photo documents my last day in Atlanta last year, and the long wait at the hotel before I left for my evening flight. It’s always the part I hate the most – seeing the hotel empty of people after the event and knowing it’s over for another year. Still, all good things much come to an end, and I always know I’ll be returning the following year.” ~ Emma
Here is her video.
Crafty Meggy also took on this scrap lift challenge too. Here is Megan’s take on the layout above.
“This week I wasn’t inspired by the inspiration piece, but fully inspired by the layout Emma and I chose to scraplift. I thought it was gorgeous and had so much fun putting my own little twist to it. I used the January Clique Kits kit for this layout.” ~Megan
Aloha Crafty Mavens!! Hello Weekend, well almost, right?! I love this time of year here in Hawaii, the temperature gets a little cooler but the sun still shines bright. It makes outdoor activities really nice. I hope the weather is making family and friend time easier.
Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway Maggie Mylow is sharing an art journal page she made. I love the way she thinks outside the box with this page, using tissue paper for flowers. I also love the peaks of black and white striped paper she used underneath some of her media. All the texture going on about the page is so much fun.
Aloha Scrappers!! I hope you are excited about Art Party Friday today!! I love that Friday means the weekend is close, but that my favorite Crafty Maven day is here. Mari is on today creating something amazing!!
I love Mari’s whimsy art journal page today. All the texture in her page is amazing. It’s like Autumn on paper. The Fox is so darling too. I love how Mari added pattern paper to her art journal page, and it looks flawless, like is is just suppose to be there. I also the the quote on the strips of paper. The typewriter font is so fun!!
Here is a look at Mari’s art journal page.
You can watch her process video making this page here.
Aloha Crafty Mavens!! Are you excited about the fact that it is Fri-YAY!! Okay, sorry I couldn’t help myself!! I love Friday, mainly because I always look forward to Art Party Friday!!I love to get al inspired to do something creative. Today I promise is no different. I love how the ladies here at the Crafty Maven give us all of their creative juices when creating for this channel.
Today on the channel Lisa, or Maggie Mylow as you may know her by, is making us something pretty!!
Here is what Lisa had to say about her piece,
“I found this mood board a bit challenging this time. It used a lot of colors that I don’t typically use. Definitely outside of my comfort zone, but I accepted the challenge. I started off using some Super Heavy Gesso by Liquitex. I used a palette to spread it over the pages and kept it thicker in areas and thinner in some. I then took some texture plates that I have and pressed it into the Heavy Gesso while it was still wet. I left it to dry overnight and then when I came back to it, I made a dark charcoal glaze with some black and white paint and some Acrylic Glazing Fluid. I painted over the 2 pages and then let it sit for about 1-2 minutes and then used baby wipes to wipe back the excess paint. This lets the paint is int the groves to show off all that texture.
To take a little bit of inspiration from the mood board I took some Tim Holtz Evergreen Bough and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint and some gesso and created some circles around the page. This mimicked the shape of the moon and also brought that dark minty color that was in the mood board. I then took my Fineliner bottle with Carbon Black paint and outlined each of the circles. I found a quote off of Pinterest that related to the moon and I used the same Fineliner to write the quote into each of the circles.
I thought I was actually done at this point, but there was something nagging at me that I had to continue. So when your muse tells you to keep going, you keep going. I think took a Donna Downey Flourish Stencil with some light modelling paste and went around the page in some areas. I let that dry (sort of….I’m impatient) and then I went over again with another glaze. This time I used N5 Neutral Grey Paint with Acrylic Glazing Fluid. I then let it sit for about 1-2 minutes and then wiped it back with a baby wipe.
It still didn’t look finished to me. So I took some Sepia Fluid Acrylic Paint and went around the edge and then buffed it in with a baby wipe. It was starting to look better but it still wasn’t finished. I then picked up my new favorite thing… Iridescent Bronze Fine paint. I used that with my finger and buffed it a few areas around the page. I used water and a wet baby wipe to move it around the page so I would get some really defined shiny areas and some duller areas.
I love how I got that old world vintage look to this page. I wouldn’t say all the elements feel like they flow well together, but I love the texture and the depth to everything on the page. Thank you so much for coming over to the blog to check out my page. Don’t forget to check out all the places you can find me.”
Here is a look at what she created!
I love all the texture!!
I love seeing this scripted quote under all the modeling paste, just barely sneaking out!
And This quote Lisa used is amazing!!
Here is a final look at the whole page together! Really cool!
Come back tomorrow for Scraplift Saturday!! There are some seriously amazing layouts being shared! Also don’t forget that we have a FB group where we chat about scrapbooking and crafty things and share what we are working on, it you are interested in that, I would love to see you there and get to know you more!!
Aloha Scrappers!! It’s finally Friday!! Or in my case it’s Friday already?! Didn’t the week just start? I am not sure what it is with this time of the year but the days start to blend together and go so fast. It is hard to take the time to appreciate all the little things about life we as a family enjoy. But I continue to try just that. By taking time to scrapbook my families memories.
Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway Channel, it is Art Party Friday. One of my favorite days, I love just feasting on beauty. It’s like a breath of fresh air that helps me feel centered. Today on the Channel Crafty Meggy is taking the leap into starting to art journal. She took this scripture and let the words came alive on her page. The background color is so pretty. I also love the stamp she used in the corner of the girl. I love how with art journaling there is no right or wrong way, and it’s all about letting the process flow where it goes. Letting the words guide you in a direction. Megan’s piece turned out gorgeous!! Here are some close up pictures of her piece.
Thanks for joining us today at The Crafty Maven Getaway!! I hope you were inspired!!
Look forward to fun things over at the Channel for this holiday season too!! We are cooking up some fun things for you viewers and I can’t wait to share more!!
