Sketch It: Question Mark

Hello Crafty Maven’s!! I hope you’re having a great Monday! I have a new sketch layout for you today.

This is the one I decided to use. I love the layering and this is how mine came out:

I love this very boy collection that I used, ‘So Rad’ from Simple Stories.

I love the story that my husband recorded on facebook and used the actual post. This is definitely a favorite layout recently! 🙂

You can watch my process video on the YouTube channel below. Thanks for stopping by!

Sketch it: Love (Crystal Barrett)

Hello it’s Crystal with Pineapple Papers and I am up on the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube channel with a Sketch. This sketch is one that I pulled from my Pinterest board. I am actually pulling inspiration from my Pinterest everyday this month on my YouTube channel. Several of the other Crafty Maven ladies are joining me as well.

I have been loving the simple layouts. I am trying to embrace them. The problem that I have is that there is just so much pretty stuff. I am a more is more girl. So there are a few more layers on this one.

I hope that this inspires you to use a sketch or any other inspiration from your Pinterest board.

Remember to wear your crown and I will see you next time.

Bye,

Crystal

Sketch It (Crystal Barrett)

Hey it’s Crystal with Pineapple Papers. One of our fellow design team members Christy who is Christy’s Beautiful Life over on YouTube is doing round 3 of 30 days of sketches. She always picks out the best sketches and when I can I like to play along. This sketch is from Ashley Horton. You can also check out Christy’s take on this sketch from 5/3.cmg may 2

I follow this sketch pretty closely. I even used hearts. The great thing about this sketch is that you could use any shape or even use those spots for embellishment clusters.
I love the stitched circle in this sketch as well, but today I was feeling lazy. I just took a plate from my kitchen and used a black pen and traced around it a couple of times. Offsetting each circle.

Do you ever have those lazy scrapbooking days where taking your layout 5 feet away to your sewing machine is just too much work. For me I may only have 20 minutes to play in my room and yes 5 feet is too far away.

I would love it if you would head over to the YouTube channel and check out the video.

Sketch It: dream & fly

Hello! It is Crystal with Pineapple Paper and I am up on the Crafty Maven Getaway with a scrapbook layout based on this awesome sketch from Laura Whitaker.4cmg

Then I took inspiration for this months inspiration board. Mainly the mint color and the butterflies. I pull in the colors of the butterflies as well as it inspired my title.

I stick pretty close to the sketch including the circle elements and tags.

I love how this turned out. Make sure that you head over to the YouTube channel as well as the Facebook group to see all of the daily inspiration.

Sketch It: OMG (Crystal Barrett)

Happy New Year!!!! I couldn’t think of a better way to start the New Year than with some scrapping! Today I am up on the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube Channel and I am using this awesome sketch that I found on the Hip Kit Club Facebook page made by Michelle Wedertz.

This is a 12 x 12 sketch but I felt that it was very easy to adapt to a 8 1/2 x 11 page, which is the size that I am doing for our anniversary trip to Mexico. Today I am scrapping 2  photos 3 x 4 each on one 4 x 6 print. They are of the Cenote that we swam in. It was so cool. I added some crape paper for texture. The black and white paper is from Crate Paper Wild Heart collection as will as the chipboard and thickers. 20181230_142517

My favorite part of this layout is the shaker pocket that I make with SpiegelMom Scraps sequins in Sweet Pea. All I did was fill an empty sequin ziplock bag with sequins and adhere the ziplock part under the photo. Poof quick shaker pocket.

I hope this inspires you to use some sketches in 2019. Tag me I would love to see what you make.

Sketch It: Pretty FANTASITIC (Crystal Barrett)

Hello Everyone,

I am up on the channel today with a Sketch it video. I love sketches they are such a great guide for inspiration. I found this sketch from pagemaps and I love it. The stitched circle in the back is what caught my eye. It reminded me of some of the wreaths in the Mood Board this month.

When I start with a sketch the first thing I look at is what pieces of the sketch do I love the best. Then I start digging through my stash. In the case of this sketch I pulled the tag and the journaling block. I pulled an Amy Tan tag with navy writing and a Fancy Pants library card that was mint green.  This is where I started my color scheme. I pulled the rest of the paper from Maggie Holmes Gather and Bloom Collection.

One of my favorite things to do is just go through my scrapbook supplies. I pull items that I love and others that fit in the color scheme. Sometimes if the photo has a theme I might add some themed items. I always pull to much. I find that if I have a ton of options on my table then I don’t spend time going through my stash later. If it is there I will use it.20181205_164108

For the stitched circle I just used a small plate from my kitchen and traced it with a pencil. Then I took it to my sewing machine and spun the paper around 3 times. I really love all the finishing touches with the wood veneer arrows and the sequins (Sweet Things and No Llama Drama from SpiegelMom Scraps).

I would love it if you head over to the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube channel and check out the process video.

Sketch-It: Adventure (Jenn Gagne)

Hello, Jenn here!!  I’m up on the channel with a Sketch-it video this week.  I did a little Pinterest search and this sketch by Susan Stringfellow from Sketch Savvy caught my eye.  I like how clean and simple it is, and though it would compliment my photo really well.

The photo I’m scrapping is of my two sons at the top of the Space Needle last summer on our trip to Seattle.  They absolutely loved being able to look down on the city.  They had no fear of being that high up (unlike their sister, who wouldn’t step foot on the glass floor or anywhere near the windows).  I chose my colour scheme based on the aqua colour of the acrylic bench they are sitting on, and went with papers from Pink Fresh Studio, as well as one from Teresa Collins and Kaiser Craft.

I chose I dark blue cardstock as my background because I felt like it really helped the colours in the patters pop.  I followed the sketch pretty closely with the exception of adding a sixth pattern to the columns, and using some cardstock and washi tape for my horizontal lines behind the photo.  I also added some thread to each side of the photo for a little bit of movement to break up all of the straight lines.  I added my title, Adventure, as well as a few small embellishments from a black and white thickers pack, and wrote some journalling using the lines in one of the patterned papers.  I finished the layout with a splatter of lime green spray mist which adds a lot of fun and whimsy.

I love how this layout turned out.  This sketch might look simple, but it’s a great design that really pulls together to create something amazing 🙂  If you’d like to see how I put this all together, hop over to the process video on the Crafty Maven Getaway’s Channel.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time, Happy Scrapping 🙂

Sketch It (Lyne Blodgett)

Hey crafty friends!  I’m so very excited to be joining you for my first project.  It’s totally not how I planned since my video footage was lost during file transfer, but I wanted to share the layout with you anyway.

I used a sketch from Scrapbook Generation one page sketch book volume one, but my layout came out NOTHING like the sketch.  The biggest difference between my layout and the sketch is that the sketch called for four photo, but as you can see I used two.  There was also nothing on the right hand side, but I felt it was to white and added he strips and stickers.
.
I also used the mood board for the month as inspiration for my photo.  I know you’re thinking how in the world does this tie into the elegant board we have for the month. Well…see that cupcake in the lower right hand corner.  There you go!  The tie in is that I’m posting on Michael’s 8th birthday.

I also used the lined paper as inspiration and used the notebook looking green paper from my kit.  This is an old Echo Park Kit called That’s my Boy.  I’m really trying to kill some of the stuff I have so I can’t say how much new product you’ll see in my future projects.

Ok,  I better run.  I have things to do before our little family birthday gathering tonight.  Thanks for checking my creation out!
