Hello Crafty Maven friends!! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day!! I have a gorgeous layout to share with you today made by Dannielle, who is Banning Lane on YouTube.
This is the sketch she used to make her layout. She found it on Pinterest, you can find the link here.
You can find her process video on the Crafty Macen Getaway YouTube channel below:
She said about her layout, “For this layout I started by digging into my box of scraps for papers that matched in inspiration piece. I LOVE blues and greens, but I don’t commonly use them together on a layout. I was going to let my papers I found inspire the story that I told. After I had my supplies gathered and my photo printed I went searching for a sketch on Pinterest. I found a pretty simple one that I knew would work well with all the little scraps I had gathered. I had so much fun creating this layout and working with colors that were a bit out of my comfort zone.”
I just love her take on the sketch!! So simple but so gorgeous!!
Thanks for stopping by today!! Have a great rest of your week!
Hello and happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I am excited to share this adorable card that Jenn made. It’s so stink’ cute!!
You can find her process video below and her personal YouTube channel here.
Jenn said about her layout, “This week’s inspiration led me to create a fun and colourful baby card for a friend of mine. I used spectrum noir markers to colour up the adorable bun in the oven image from Lawn Fawn. I made a shaker circle and added ribbon with the sentiment tag to create an adorable card. The best part was that I got to use up a DCWV blank card that I have had in my stash forever – it went perfectly with this week’s inspirational piece.”
Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you have a great week!
Hello! It’s Scraplift Saturday again and this time we’re taking on a Missy Whidden layout:
Here’s what Nicole had to say:
“Kelly Overmann Olea and I both scraplifted a Hip Kit Club Design team Layout by Missy Whidden. I loved everything about it…the title, the mixed media, the embellishment layering…and had a blast scraplifting most of it!”
You can see her process here and if you’d like to see more of Nicole here’s her own YouTube channel:
Next we have Kelly:
“For this layout I decided to scraplift Missy Whidden. I have really been inspired by her work for a while now and couldn’t wait for an opportunity to lift this layout. It is probably one of my favorites that she has done. I used gesso, distress paint, and inktense pencils for the background with a little bit of color shine splatters. The collection I used was from Pebbles that I got in a Crafty Steals haul (love that website…but it is a bit dangerous to my wallet :)). The only thing outside of the pebbles collection were the turquoise Thickers. To top it off I added some enamel dots and sewing.”
Here’s her process and you can see more of Kelly on her YouTube channel:
Are you ready for Friday!! ready for the weekend and fun and maybe even some some?!! I am , even with my short week, I am ready to play in my scrap room this weekend. Hopefully this layout will inspire you to want to create something fun and meaningful this weekend!
The layout I made for today is definitely story based, but I really was still inspired by the inspiration piece. I really loved how the balls of yarn were lined up and under them the blanket followed that same color pattern. I wanted to create a background inspired by that. I decided to Wilna-fy my layout. I watered down my acrylic paints to create a drip look down my page. Of course once I started to layer my paper strips I didn’t like how it looked at all.
Don’t you hate that?!! When what is in your head just doesn’t translate to paper!! It annoyed me, but I decided to just start over. instead of using tons of colors this time I only added one. I mixed white and pink paint together to get a lighter pink color, similar to the light pink in the inspiration piece.
Using my paintbrush I just added a little bit of paint on the white cardstock. now only a few peeks of this color will stick out from my paper layers.
I added my layers again and tried to keep my photos and embellishment clusters on the strips of paper.
I ended with some mint splatters, that matched colors I used in the papers on my layout. I really like the softer look the layout now has. It fits the meaning of the layout much better now. I really feel that the design and media doesn’t take away from the story but enhances it now. That is the key to using media, know when a layout needs less or more. Just because you are using different art products on a layout doesn’t mean you need to go crazy. A little can go a long way sometimes.
I want to share with you what was up on The Crafty Maven Getaway on Free Flow Wednesday. I love Wednesday and seeing the scrapbookers’ style shine through. That is what Wednesday is all about!!
On Wednesday, Scraps by Jen and Abcdeli are sharing layouts on the channel.
Elisabetta has just a lovely simple style and I love her use of white space. Even in the layout she shares this week she really uses the space in a fun way. I love how she adds fun embellishments to the frames on her background patterned paper from Maggie Holmes.
Next up on The Crafty Maven Getaway is ScrapsByJen! I love her style and for completely different reasons then Elisabetta’s. I love how Jen’s layout makes you feel like home. I know that sounds odd, so let me explain. Some layouts and styles just have an ease to them, that you feel like you could create that or do that at home, with the stuff you have right now. They inspire you to pull out your papers and embellishments and get to work on something similar. Then you find out it’s not so easy to recreate, but it’s fun all the same trying to capture the essence of what was on their page. Jen also always has amazing photos on her layouts!!
Take a look at this week’s layout that Jen made.
I love how Jen used all the frames on her layout!! Here is what Jen said about making this layout, “I had a LOT of photos to scrap and really didn’t want to do a double page spread. The inspiration piece had me thinking a grid but then I saw this background paper and the thought of using it with frames came to me. It’s a busy page but a fun way to fit in a ton of photos.”
Hello scrappy friends! I hope you’re having a great week! I have a sketch challenge for you today and Tina is sharing her take on it with us on the YouTube channel below.
Here’s the sketch she used:

She did a great job with the sketch! I really loved her layout!
Hello everyone!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! It always goes by so fast, unfortunately.
Today I am sharing an awesome project that Hannah made. You can find her personal channel here and her process video below:
Here are some photos of the cute chore charts she made:
Hannah said about her chore charts, “This week on Mix It Up Monday I made these cute Clipboards with tags we could add on or in a pocket. The tags have the chores my kids need to do. This year we are focusing on getting them to help out around the house. These clipboards were so fun to make and the kids love them. Hopefully it will help them actually be excited and do their chores.”
Thanks for stopping by today! If you’re not a member of our Facebook group come on over and join! We’d love to see your layouts and what you make with the inspiration pieces.
Happy Fri YAY!! It’s a nice relaxing day at my place, because the hubby has a four day for the upcoming holiday in the US for Monday (Martin Luther King Jr Day). Which means I get to scrap this afternoon once I get some chores done around the house. Happy Dance for sure!!
Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway Maggie Mylow (Lisa) is sharing an art canvas based on the inspiration piece.
She mentions it doesn’t quite turn out the way she wanted, but I find we need to play around to get that look we are really happy with. That is how art works, playing and learning before things come together. Not every piece is perfect and that is what makes art fun and unique. It can still be so inspiring though.
I love this canvas Lisa made. It is so cool!! Take a look.
I really love how the dandelion pieces turn into the butterflies!! Just beautiful!
On Free Flow Wednesday DeAnna Scraps created this layout for us!! (Swooning)
“This layout is capturing an introduction to the new year and my One Little Word for the year. I really enjoyed using the inspiration for this week. I was most inspired by the colors (of course they were my favorites!) and the butterflies on the lefthand side of the page.” DeAnna Scraps
I really love this layout!! I love the idea of documenting our goals and plans, for future generations to better get to know us!
Hi, crafters! I hope you’re all having a great Thursday! I have an adorable layout to share with you today made by Rachel Reynolds. This is the sketch she used:
You can find Rachel’s YouTube channel here and her process video on the Crafty Maven YouTube channel below:
About her layout, Rachel said,”Hello Crafty Mavens! I found this sketch where I find most things, on Pinterest! I really found a lot to work within this week’s inspiration piece, from the black and white mixed with the pink, to using butterflies in my layout it worked out really well. I love making these layouts about when my niece was a baby, it’s so much fun to think back to these stories about discovery.”
