Spotlight Sunday: Nicole Mackin

Nicole Mackin is up on the Crafty Maven Getaway for the Sunday, December 27 Spotlight video.  Nicole is a delightful member of the Crafty Maven team and in her video she describes her scrappy style, history and craft space.

Nicole and her husband and two daughters live in the country in the state of Nebraska; they are big Corn Husker fans (their college team).  Nicole grew up in Nebraska and loves her home state.  Her genuine and sweet demeanor are clearly evident as she shares about her family and her home.

Nicole started to journal and capture memories as a young girl.  She and her mom loved to scrap together and Nicole cherishes all of those memories and little details she has documented over the years.  Sadly, Nicole and her husband both lost their parents within a very short period of time and so the memories captured became even more special and cherished.

Nicole loves to try lots of different scrappy styles; she loves to layer, try vintage looks, and create some sparkle in her layouts.  She loves to scrap lift from magazines or from YouTube videos and she contributed to an episode of The Scrap Gals Podcast on this topic.

Nicole finishes up her video by taking us on a tour of her amazing scrap space.  Wow, it’s awesome!!  Thanks for sharing that Nicole!  One of the things on my to-do list in the new year is to make my craft room more organized, so I loved the craft room share.

Below is the link to the Spotlight video and to Nicole’s YouTube channel and some examples of her projects on the Crafty Maven channel.

Free Flow Wednesday: (Dec30)Hannah Lemieux

Aloha Crafty Mavens!! I hope You all had a very merry Christmas and are excited for the new Year!! I am already thinking up some ways to vamp up The Crafty Maven in the New Year as well as trying to force myself to be more productive so I can spend more time with my family!!

Isn’t that what scrapbooking is about our family anyway right?! This Christmas Season I have primarily been focused on my December Daily. Even though I love doing that album I tend to get bogged down half way because I am itching to scrap my love, which is 12×12 layouts! I haven’t taken the time to scrap layouts of any of the pictures I took this year. I set out with that in mind when I started this layout.

I printed my photo in black and white matte. I have been loving the look of matte paper this holiday season. I just love the colors better on matte paper. I really wanted to go with a very classic Black, white and red with pops of silver and gold that were so prominent in the inspiration piece.

My layout has lots of white space which really makes the red stand out and look amazing!! I let my layers have a playful feel to match the picture mood too. The picture is a candid photo of my kids with Santa and Santa is trying to tickle Samuel so they are all laughing. Santa is trying not to laugh but you see that twinkle in his eye!! It is one of my Favorites from this year!!

I scattered a few embellishments throughout the layout but tried to keep it simple. I feel the inspiration piece has a celebration element but but very subtle and I also wanted that feel for my layout as well.

Here are some close up shots of my layout!

Mix It Up Monday: Hannah Lemiuex

Hello crafty friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!! It’s always sad to see it go, but it was a good month!

Hannah has a planner video for us today:

Hannah said, “In the new year I really want to focus on organizing my time better. What better way to do that than making my planner pretty?!! My goal is to spend less then an hour a week organizing my planner and time ahead!! I am excited sharing my planner this week. Using the colors from the inspiration really helped keep everything flowing and simple.”

I love how she used wrapping paper and stamps to decorate her planner!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sketch It Out Thursday: froggie251

Hello Crafty Mavens and Merry Christmas Eve!! I have a layout from Kelly for you today. I absolutely love the colors she used and the photos are just adorable!!

About her layout, Kelly said, “For this layout I used items from my stash that included Crate Paper, Simple Stories, Pebbles, and Teresa Collins, among some other bits and bobs. I really love the background paper and was so excited that the inspiration piece had a touch of nature that I could incorporate in my layout. The word was cut out by hand using my printer to first print the word and then scissors and an exacto knife to get into the interrior.”

You can find Kelly’s video below and her personal YouTube channel here.

Thanks for stopping by today!! We hope you all have a wonderful and merry Christmas!!

Sketch It Out Thursday: Hannah Lemieux

Hello crafters! I hope you’re all having a great week!!

Hannah is up today with the sketch challenge. Here’s the sketch she chose to use:

You can find her video below and her personal YouTube channel here.

Here are some close up photos of her layout:

Hannah said, “I love all the homemade elements on the inspiration piece, and that really inspired me to add elements on my layout that reflected that. Like the triangles from the sketch I stamped out diamonds and pieced them together. I used colors that were similar to the colors on the inspiration piece. I also added glittered embellishments and some twine for that homemade look.”

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you have a wonderful and crafty week!!

Mix It Up Monday: Crafty Meggy

Hello Craft friends!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was eventful with a lot of sickness and not a whole lot of crafty time. Very sad! But we’re on the up and up so hopefully we’ll be all healthy in a few days.

Today I am sharing a little mini album I made for my cousin as her Christmas present. I kept it very simple and clean. The process took me about an hour and a half so the video is quite a bit longer than normal and might be a little choppy. I tried cutting out as much as I could so you wouldn’t have to watch an hour long video!

Here are some photos of the finished album:
