IN YOUR POCKET TUESDAY: HANNAH LEMIEUX

Hello Everyone!!

It’s Tuesday which means we have a pocket style project for you and from none other than the lovely Hannah Lemiux who is the inspiration and creator behind this entire initiative  (if you want to see more of Hannah’s wonderful creations you can find her personal channel here). I’ll let Hannah tell you about her PL Page:

“This month for Project life I am documenting things that make me happy! This is the first week of October. I loved using this pocket protector because of the large piece at the top which was perfect for adding a bigger title card. I printed all my photos at 4×4 which ended up being a pain, because it didn’t give me a lot of room for embellishing or journalling. To remedy that I added an extra card for journalling for some of the days. I also used mostly Shimelle papers and products to keep everything looking similar and keep my process more simple.”

And it looks fabulous!!!

SCRAPLIFT SATURDAY: SCRAPSBYJEN AND ABCDELI

Hi all…

Yup it’s Saturday and you know what that means….Scraplift Saturday – whoohoo… isn’t it just the most awesome compliment to have a layout of yours scraplifted by someone else? ScrapsbyJen and abcdeli  took this phenomenal layout by Veera Saarivuo and made it their own.

happymail_SBW

Let’s take a look at Jen’s layout first and in her words – “I had fun making this layout based off of Veera’s. I used quite old photos of my sons and niece and nephew at Easter time. Easter really was the side story here as cutting the photos into circles really highlighted by I wanted to use these photos… their cute little faces and excitement.”

12141040_10153588229016327_8441097041943357567_o

It’s just beautiful and you can watch her process here:

Now for abcdeli who had this to say about her stunning take on the layout – “I cut a ton of circles with my Big Shot. I used papers from the Documentary collection by Dear Lizzy. it was an easy and fast layout but I love the result!”

It always amazes me how two people using the same layout can have such beautiful but totally different results. Here’s abcdeli’s video:

Don’t forget to pop back tomorrow for Spotlight Sunday!

Art Party Friday: Maggie Mylow

Aloha Crafty Mavens!! Are you excited about the fact that it is Fri-YAY!! Okay, sorry I couldn’t help myself!! I love Friday, mainly because I always look forward to Art Party Friday!!I love to get al inspired to do something creative. Today I promise is no different. I love how the ladies here at the Crafty Maven give us all of their creative juices when creating for this channel.

Today on the channel Lisa, or Maggie Mylow as you may know her by, is making us something pretty!!

Here is what Lisa had to say about her piece,

“I found this mood board a bit challenging this time. It used a lot of colors that I don’t typically use. Definitely outside of my comfort zone, but I accepted the challenge. I started off using some Super Heavy Gesso by Liquitex. I used a palette to spread it over the pages and kept it thicker in areas and thinner in some. I then took some texture plates that I have and pressed it into the Heavy Gesso while it was still wet. I left it to dry overnight and then when I came back to it, I made a dark charcoal glaze with some black and white paint and some Acrylic Glazing Fluid. I painted over the 2 pages and then let it sit for about 1-2 minutes and then used baby wipes to wipe back the excess paint. This lets the paint is int the groves to show off all that texture.
To take a little bit of inspiration from the mood board I took some Tim Holtz Evergreen Bough and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint and some gesso and created some circles around the page. This mimicked the shape of the moon and also brought that dark minty color that was in the mood board. I then took my Fineliner bottle with Carbon Black paint and outlined each of the circles. I found a quote off of Pinterest that related to the moon and I used the same Fineliner to write the quote into each of the circles.
I thought I was actually done at this point, but there was something nagging at me that I had to continue. So when your muse tells you to keep going, you keep going. I think took a Donna Downey Flourish Stencil with some light modelling paste and went around the page in some areas. I let that dry (sort of….I’m impatient) and then I went over again with another glaze. This time I used N5 Neutral Grey Paint with Acrylic Glazing Fluid. I then let it sit for about 1-2 minutes and then wiped it back with a baby wipe.
It still didn’t look finished to me. So I took some Sepia Fluid Acrylic Paint and went around the edge and then buffed it in with a baby wipe. It was starting to look better but it still wasn’t finished. I then picked up my new favorite thing… Iridescent Bronze Fine paint. I used that with my finger and buffed it a few areas around the page. I used water and a wet baby wipe to move it around the page so I would get some really defined shiny areas and some duller areas.
I love how I got that old world vintage look to this page. I wouldn’t say all the elements feel like they flow well together, but I love the texture and the depth to everything on the page. Thank you so much for coming over to the blog to check out my page. Don’t forget to check out all the places you can find me.”

Here is a look at what she created!

12065782_1670291639851683_6890391097240556476_n

Sketch It Out Thursday: Christy’s Beautiful Life & Rachel Reynolds

Good morning, Crafty Mavens!! I hope you’re all enjoying this new look on the blog! Emma did a great job and I’m so excited about all the new  changes we’ve been making! I hope you’re enjoying all the inspiration you’ve been getting from the design team.

Today, I will be sharing a couple videos with you that Christy and Rachel made with this sketch:

sketch10.15

This is a cute sketch!! I’m going to have to try it out this week!

Here is Christy’s take on the sketch. This is what she has to say about her layout, “Oh how I love a good sketch. This one was really calling my name right from the beginning. I took all the major elements and recreated them using my own style. My favourite part of the whole layout however was getting to use a pre-made word as my title, something I don’t normally do.

christy2

You can find Christy’s video below and her youtube channel here.

Rachel also made a layout with this sketch in mind and she says, “Hello everyone! Welcome to Sketch It Out Thursday as Christy and I take on this Page Maps sketch featuring some bold patterns and a prominent title block. I decided to use quite a bit of grey, black, and white from this week’s inspiration, along with the fall feel it evoked.

rachel

You can find her video below and her personal YouTube channel here. You can also find her on instagram as @Oliquig.

Both of these layouts are great! I love the photos and how they “twerked” the sketch to fit their style!!

Free Flow Wednesday: CraftinmommaML and Melissa Vining

Aloha Scrappers!! I hope you are enjoying this new look for us here at The Crafty Maven Getaway!! Also I hope your week has been going smoothly this week. Can you believe we are almost half way through October already? I surely can’t, time is just blowing by.

Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway CraftinmommaML is posting another 8 1/2 by 11 layout. I love how she does this size and shares her amazing work with us. There isn’t enough scrapbookers sharing this size and it’s a shame because this is such a fun size. I love seeing this size in my album even though I admit it is difficult to scrap when I do.

Here is what Teresa said about her process, “Hey scrapbookers, it’s Teresa here (Craftinmommaml) Today it’s Free Flow Wednesday and we have an amazing mood board I’m being inspired by. As soon as I seen it, I knew right away I wanted to pull out Heidi Swapp “Hello Beautiful” Collection! the colours matched perfectly! I just couldn’t keep with the mood colours so i had to add a hint of pink in my layout as well!!! I’m a sucker for layers, so I used all the colours to layer up my photo and use hints of white cut files to add to the background!”

Here re some close ups of her layout.

Also on the Crafty Maven Getaway Channel is Melissa Vining. she is just rocking her style today too!!

“I was inspired by the colours on the mood board, the triangles, and definitely the ampersand. I went through my paper scraps and older embellishments and was so surprised to have lots to work with! This is a photo of my girls.”  – Melissa Vining

Here is a look at her layout that she made. I love all the black and grey with the pops of aqua drawing your eye to the precious photo.

IN YOUR POCKET TUESDAY: SCRAPBENA CREATIONS

Happy Tuesday!!!

I hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far and are ready for some inspiration from Jenn aka Scrapbena Creations who describes for us how she turned the inspiration pieces for this week into a gorgeous PL spread:

“I loved the colour palette of this week’s inspiration piece. I drew on the white, black and grey, as well as included pops of pink and mint that were found in a couple of the inspiration photos. I picked cards that had circles and triangles as another way to tie in the inspiration. I couldn’t help myself, I just had to add a touch of gold, because you can never go wrong with gold! At least in my opinion! While I often find it challenging to incorporate inspiration pieces into project life spreads, I really love how this 6×8 layout turned out.”

In Your Pocket Tuesday

Not sure about you but I’m right with her on the gold! 🙂

You can watch her process video here and isn’t that teeny black cat on the You & Me card just adorable? I so want one….. 🙂

I know I’m inspired right now to dive into my PL stash!

Enjoy the rest of your day and be sure to check back tomorrow for yet more Crafty Maven awesomeness 🙂
