Hey Scrapbookers!! It’s the weekend!! YAY!! I love the weekend. It is my chance to relax a little and not be so focused on everyone else in my family. I usually get some time on the weekend to scrap and take time for myself. I find it so important when I spend so much time with my family throughout the week. Even though I love them so much, time to myself helps keep me centered.
Whatever your weekends look like, I hope you you get to enjoy your time.
Today on The crafty Maven Getaway, Shari from Shari’s Scrappy Shares is sharing a layout she made with the inspiration piece. She was also inspired by a fellow talented youtube Claudia and new designer (if you haven’t checked out her work you really need too, she is amazing)!! Here is a look at the layout Shari was inspired by.
Here are some pictures of Shari’s finished layout.
I love all the layered elements!!
Here is a look at Shari’s video sharing the layout she made.

Aloha Crafty Mavens!!This past week has been crazy for me, and I am not sure why. It seems we have been slacking and not posting every day, and I am so sorry for that!! I thought that just to check you up from the missing posts from last week, I would make a longer post today and list all the days we didn’t share the video.
This week then we will resume back to our normal blogging everyday.

” I love the mood board for this week, expecially since I paired colors that I wouldn’t necessarily choose myself.” ~ Kelly B

Marianne made this really pretty layout for Wednesday. I love all the soft colors and the silhouette cut flowers!
You can watch her video here.
Art Party Friday (Jan 29)
Adele (Inkie Quill) is creating in her art journal on The Crafty Maven for Friday. Her page is so pretty, I love the flowing hair of the girl on her page. The color just pops on the page too.
Watch Adele’s process here.
Scrap lift Saturday (Jan30)
Scifi Scrapper (Emma) and Crafty Meggy (Megan) are scrap lifting this really cool layout from Pinterest.
Here is Emma’s take.
“For our layouts today Megan and I picked a fun inspiration piece. I was drawn to the big band of paper at the top – I normally avoid ‘top heavy’ layouts and was looking forward to trying it out! In contrast to the layout we were scraplifting, our inspiration piece this week was bright and bold and certainty made a statement! I couldn’t wait to see how such different palettes changed the look of the layout design.
When creating this layout mainly pulled from Bo Bunny’s #Forever Young – the colours are a perfect match, as well as pulling a few other pieces in, such as the Bella Blvd flower and Studio Calico hearts. I even used an old decorative hair clip on my layout!
The photo documents my last day in Atlanta last year, and the long wait at the hotel before I left for my evening flight. It’s always the part I hate the most – seeing the hotel empty of people after the event and knowing it’s over for another year. Still, all good things much come to an end, and I always know I’ll be returning the following year.” ~ Emma
Here is her video.
Crafty Meggy also took on this scrap lift challenge too. Here is Megan’s take on the layout above.
“This week I wasn’t inspired by the inspiration piece, but fully inspired by the layout Emma and I chose to scraplift. I thought it was gorgeous and had so much fun putting my own little twist to it. I used the January Clique Kits kit for this layout.” ~Megan
Hello! It’s Scraplift Saturday again and this time we’re taking on a Missy Whidden layout:
Here’s what Nicole had to say:
“Kelly Overmann Olea and I both scraplifted a Hip Kit Club Design team Layout by Missy Whidden. I loved everything about it…the title, the mixed media, the embellishment layering…and had a blast scraplifting most of it!”
You can see her process here and if you’d like to see more of Nicole here’s her own YouTube channel:
Next we have Kelly:
“For this layout I decided to scraplift Missy Whidden. I have really been inspired by her work for a while now and couldn’t wait for an opportunity to lift this layout. It is probably one of my favorites that she has done. I used gesso, distress paint, and inktense pencils for the background with a little bit of color shine splatters. The collection I used was from Pebbles that I got in a Crafty Steals haul (love that website…but it is a bit dangerous to my wallet :)). The only thing outside of the pebbles collection were the turquoise Thickers. To top it off I added some enamel dots and sewing.”
Here’s her process and you can see more of Kelly on her YouTube channel:
We have two lovely ladies up today for Scraplift Saturday both of whom are lifting the extremely talented Nancy Damiano; first up is Tina lifting this beautiful layout:
“I couldn’t wait to use this paper from the Jen Hadfield Homemade collection with a picture of my daughter starting her WDW internship. The PL cards were a perfect addition to the story I wanted to tell.”
You can see more of Tina on her personal YouTube channel and here is her process:
But wait, there’s more 🙂 Here is Sarah’s take on another of Nancy’s layouts:
Her process is here and you can see more of her on her own channel:
Well the year is definitely starting off with a bang! Up today is Kelly Barron and ScrapsbyJen (Jen Stokes) both of whom have chosen to scraplift the very talented Missy Whidden.
A quick reminder what the inspiration/mood board for this week is:
They both used this layout from Missy as their starter point:
It’s Saturday and today our two design team members are scraplifting themselves – have you ever thought to do that?
Melissa is up first:
“I chose an old layout from my oldest daughter’s baby album. I was inspired by the colours and the heart image in the mood board. I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe for the “cute” heart. I loved the challenge of scraplifting myself in my current style.”
Her earlier layout:
and here’s her current take on it:
You can view her process here and you can see more of her on her own channel:
Next up we have Christy who admits to using the wrong inspiration piece this week – I’m sure we’ve all done that :):
To see more of Christy check our her channel here.
I have a scraplift Saturday by Emma (SciFi Scrapper); she used this layout by Anke Kramer:
To many this weeks inspiration screamed ‘Autumn’, but to me it shouted ‘Harry Potter’!
The owls and pumpkins immediately grabbed me and as soon as I saw them, I knew I wanted to do a layout based around my recent trip to the Harry Potter Studio Tour. I picked this photo I took of ‘Harry’ and ‘Ron’ on the Hogwarts Express, one of the new sections I hadn’t seen on my previous visits. I loved the childish excitement and joy the scene set.
The layout I picked to scraplift is by Anke Kramer. I loved the use of white space on the layout, as well as the use of one dominant colour throughout. Like Anke, I used the same paper for my border and biggest layer, as well as the use of word stickers and hearts. I couldn’t resist embellishing a little more than the layout I was lifting though – Including that wonderful resin owl, which reminded me of Harry’s owl Hegwig!
We have two great videos for you today for our Scraplift Saturday; first up is froggie251 (Kelly):
For this layout I used a scrapbook page from Marcy Penner (marcypenner.com). I really like how she used a single layout for the layout and not a lot of layering behind the photo. I wanted to try something a little different than what I typically do so I thought that this would be a fun layout to scraplift. For the layout I mostly used items from the Crate Paper – Emma’s Shoppe collection. I thought the style of the collection went well with the older picture.
Here’s her process and to see more of Kelly here’s her own channel:
Next up we have Nicole with her take:
Kelly and I scraplifted a layout by Mercy Penner. I love it because the design is not one I would normally do on my own as I tend to do lots of layering. The 1/2 page design is very unique and such a fun use of embellishments. I used Amy Tangerines Finders Keepers line. (And really ended up straying from the inspiration piece as I ended up using brighter colors).
Today our two contributors decided to scraplift each other and both ended up with beautiful results – TinaGale is up first not scraplifting a layout of Katty’s but rather going with specific products and a series Katty has; really cool idea.
“I was inspired by co-contriibutor Katty Miranda. Looking through her layouts she obviously loves flowers and doilies so those were a must. I love to use up my stash and she has a great series Work it Wednesay where she creates a kit from her stash. I grabbed several products from my stash and created this layout of my daughter having fun creating snowflakes from some embossed die cuts I had made. I was teasing her because she wouldn’t glue them together so she was trying to hide under the table. LOL”
You can watch her process here and see more of her on her own channel:
Katty Miranda went with the more traditional approach and lifted a beautiful layout of TinaGale’s:
“This week TinaGale Husong and I decided to Scraplift each other. I knew immediately which layout of hers I wanted to lift. I absolutely love Tina’s layout. Everything about it, the design, the colors, overall it is just fabulous. I also really loved this weeks inspiration board. I love the combination of the pinks and silvers. I think the color scheme went very well with this photo I had printed in black & white of my adorable niece.:) ”
This is the stunning result:

That’s all for today – be sure to pop back on over tomorrow for Adele’s Spotlight Sunday!
Megan and Christy got together to scraplift the same layout – a stunning creation by Jamie Pate
Up first is Megan who had this to say about her layout:
“For this layout I wanted to concentrate on the colors blue and orange. I use blue all the time, but orange is one of the hardest colors for me to use! I included a little bit of yellow as well, but mostly blues and oranges. I love these candid moments I captured of my son eating a meal and wanted to keep the layout simple, but also include a lot of layers and flowers. I feel like I accomplished my goal and love the outcome!”
You can see her process here and here’s a link to her own channel:
A few close ups:
Here’s Christy’s take on the layout:
“This week I wanted to take the colours from the inspiration piece and found them in my photos! These are actually summer photos but they had the right tones to them. The scrap lift from Jamie Pate was not something I would normally choose but I am in LOVE with the final results!”

Be sure to come back tomorrow for DeAnna’s Spotlight Sunday.
