Free Flow Wednesday: Willow View (Kelly Oblak)

CDB17301-8C53-486F-BAA9-B8416D90C187I struggled with how to use the inspiration board for my layout a few weeks ago, but this one came to me right away. The minty/green teal color on the far right really stood out, so I decided to focus on that color to create a monochromatic layout.

I remembered that I had least one Amy Tangerine paper in that color, so I went to my stash and pulled all the Amy Tangerine papers in that color that I could find. Along the way I also saw the striped paper and thought it would be a good choice for a little variety.

Cut apart papers and stickers from some of the same Amy Tangerine lines added easy embellishments in the same colors. A few extra embellishments and my layout was complete.

The inspiration board has so many nature elements that I found another nature photo to scrap with this mix of fun papers. Choosing supplies first and then finding my photo last was a nice way to mix up my normal process of choosing a photo first.

I hope you enjoy watching the process as much as I enjoyed making it.

Stash It Monday: Love (froggie251)

Hello everyone.  I am back with a Stash It Monday post.  For today’s layout I am using an older collection, Maggie Holmes, Crate Paper “Bloom”.  For this page I kept the layering pretty simple and just stuck with pieces from the collection.  I only added a doily and tissue paper from my stash.

I added a bit of mixed media on the background using my gesso first and then a few Shimerz – Inklings products.

I really like the texture the “i love you” embellishment gave the layout along with the tissue paper and doily.IMG_1339

I topped it all off with some die-cuts, enamel stickers and a few washi elements.

Thanks for stopping by.  Make sure you check out the process video as well as join us on our Facebook page.  Happy scrapping.  Kelly

Stash it Monday

I am so excited to be sharing this Stash it Monday layout with you all because it uses one of my absolute favorite collections which is the Wild at Heart collection by Coco Vanilla. I only have a few pices of this paper left but i have been hoarding it becuase it is so pretty and I really need to put it to use already.

I am also determined to finish the baby album this year, I know I said this last year but this year I mean it! I took some random photos from the baby’s first year and laid them out in a grid format which is always my go to when I want to scrap but I am unsure of what I want to do. I then added some embellishments that have been in my stash forever and I called this layout done. It literally only took me 20 minutes and I am so happy with it.

The collection choice came from the blue/teal that is in the inspiration piece from this month and I am thinking that at some point I can recreate this watercolor paper myself!

I hope you were inspired go stash hunting and be sure to join us in the Facebook group for tons of fun!

Free Flow Wednesday

Hello everyone, it’s Helen here albeit a bit late for my post as I’ve been having internet issues but thankfully I’m finally back on the web. For this week’s layout I pulled out my Pebbles Girl Squad supplies and there were 2 pieces of patterned paper that I had chopped the corners off and they gave me the inspiration for my layout.

This layout came together rather quickly and it was fun to create, of course I had to add a bit of mixed media to the background.

Happy crafting!

Sketch it Out Thursday

Hey there Crafty Mavens!  Today I am sharing a double page layout that I created using a free sketch.  You can find this specific sketch in the October 2014 issue of Create magazine.  The magazine is no longer being published, but there are a lot of issues still available online to download as well as all the free sketches.

Here is a look at the entire layout:

I enjoy pulling random supplies from stash.  Today it was papers from My Mind’s Eye and October Afternoon.   I then used some My Mind’s Eye stickers, Maya Road pins, Cheeky Studio die cuts and even made some of my own with My Favorite Things stamps and dies.

Here is the process video to see how it all came together:

Scraplift Saturday: Grace (Kelly Oblak)

Hi everybody, it’s Kelly Oblak with this weeks’s Scraplift Saturday.

I lifted a layout from the Elle’s Studio blog by Scrap with Suzy. My layout is on the left and Suzy’s is on the right. I liked the three square photos all in a line on Suzy’s layout and I also liked how she matted one photo to call attention to it.

I did use the inspiration board, but it was quite a journey and it might be hard to find it in my final layout. There were nature elements on the board, so I went looking for outdoor photos. When I saw the sunset photos the gold in them also reminded me of the gold in the inspiration board. I started out by using gold paper as a background to pull another element from the board, but in the end that didn’t work out.

I hope you enjoy watching my process.

In Your Pocket Tuesday – Dec. Daily: Day 23 (froggie251)

Hello everyone.  Hope you enjoyed the holidays and have recovered from all of the busyness.  Today I wanted to share a layout I did in my December Daily album.  I was inspired by the colors and the snowy picture from the inspiration piece.

I used a 5×7 photo and a pocket pages with 2×2 squares. IMG_1030I used an off-cut from a 3×4 I cut down to make one of the 2×2 squares, cut a fishtail end and used it as a layering piece for the “loved THIS” stamped image.  The messy circle along with the sketched die-cuts I used, I got from the Inkie Quill Patreon page.  I love all fo the goodies she gives out each month. If you have not checked it out, you definitely should. The “loved THIS” stamp is from Ali Edwards.

IMG_1031For the number is used a circle sticker that I got from a number sheet that I picked up from the Target Dollar spot.  To embellish it a bit, I added a few wood veneer stars.

IMG_1032The “GATHER” stamp is also form Ali Edwards.  This was from a Thanksgiving stamp set.

I also added a wood veneer star and label from the Inkie Quill cut-a-part sheet.

IMG_1033IMG_1034I made shaker pockets in two of the squares. Both the stars and the glitter was from my stash.

IMG_1035Hope you will stop by to see how I made this page.  Just click here to get to the video.

Have a great day.

Scraplift Saturday

Once again I forgot to look at the new January inspiration board before beginning my layout, however, I was pleasantly surprised when I realised that the main colour I had chosen was on the mood board. Lucky me! I also used a layout by Kelly Barron to scrap lift this week.

Here in my layout: IMG_1864.jpg

This is Kelly’s layout I scrap lifted.

Happy New Year 2018

Aloha!!

It’s Hannah here and I wanted to stop in and say hello!! I want to thank you all for following The Crafty Maven Getaway!! We love inspiring you and creating content that helps you want to create, craft and share what you are working on.

This year you are going to see a few new changes especially as the year goes on. I hope you are as excited as we are about these changes.

Change 1, we are switching to only have a monthly Inspiration Piece. As much as I love making these pieces, or sharing ones the team has made. It really makes more sense to have one a month. This will give you more changes to see the team use a piece in many different ways.

Change 2, We are adding more tutorial and organizing type videos to the channel. We would love to do product reviews, and other videos that can help you in your crafting. If you have ideas or things you would love to see us talk about in the videos add it to the comments or in our FaceBook group.

Change 3, We are bringing back For The Love Of Homemade Kits!!!! I hope you are excited for this one. Khristina is going to be making her own kit from the inspiration piece and using it all month and sharing videos on Sundays. Many of the other team members will be joining in with the homemade kits too. I really hope you play along with us and share your kits and layouts with the hashtag #ForTheLoveOf HomemadeKits or share it in our Facebook Group!!

Change 4, You are going to see more of me. I am planning on doing a weekly FB Live or YT live video. I really want to encourage you all to create the things you love and love what you are creating. This month I am working out the best days to share with you all. But I promise you will see plenty of me. I will also be bringing on some of the group with me to talk about scrapbooking topics in the facebook group.

Change 5, something you may have noticed already, the design team will be sharing their layouts and videos on the blog as well. I want you to really get to know them. They work so hard to share with you. This blog is a great place to start to build that relationship. Help encourage them by leaving them lots of love and comments on either their youtube posts or their blog posts.

Change 6, We will be having 2 online crops next year. I am also hoping to do a few more youtube hops throughout the year for your viewing pleasure.

Change 7, this year I am working on highlighting scrapbooking companies that we enjoy and want to share with you. I am hoping to get product in my teams hands to help inspire you. Last year we highlighted Cheeky Studio by my lovely friend Tuesdae who is a veteran Youtube Scrapbooker and such an inspiration. I would love to highlight more scrapbookers who have worked hard to follow their dreams. So look forward to seeing some cool things from us, and maybe even some giveaways.

As we start another scrappy new year I really look forward to getting to know you and giving you inspiration that you want to see. That is my highest priority. I can’t wait to bring you some great stuff this year!!

I look forward to more chit chats and more inspiration!! Until next time stay inspired!! Untitled-1
