Free Flow Wednesday: (March 30) SciFi Scrapper

Hi everyone, this is Emma and today I’m up for Free Flow Wednesday. I decided to break out from my normal style and go for a layout look that wasn’t full of my normal layers and clustering!

The mood board really inspired me, and with all the flowers it screamed summer and the outdoors and so I picked a photo of my friend and I on a boat trip in Oxford – They’re something of a tradition for us these days!

I wanted to keep a light, airy feel so I stuck to lots of wood, grey and pink tones, which went well with the paper I picked (Pink Paislee’s C’est La Vie), and it gave me an opportunity to use some of my wood veneer up – I don’t know about you but I tend to hoard it, so getting some on a layout is always an achievement! I also really enjoyed getting my use my Elle’s Studio die cuts, they’re so cute and it was difficult to pick what ones to use!

Julia said about her spread, “ I was really inspired by colours, bokeh picture and the flowers that reminded me of ruffles. so i have decided to use vellum to create a bokeh effect on the pages and made my own ruffle hearts embellishments using pattern paper and vellum.

Aloha Crafty Mavens!! I hope everyone has a great day planned today!! Have an awesome Easter!! It’s always been one of my favorite holidays, and I love the welcoming of the warmer spring like weather. I can’t wait to see how everyone has spent their day!!

Today on The Crafty Maven Getaway we have two videos!

Froggie 251 is sharing her planner spread. I love Kelly’s spreads. They are always so much fun!! I love that she adds so many stamps in her planner spread!

“For this week I used the Lawn Fawn stamp set Critters at the Dog Park for the decorative part of the planner. I colored the images in with Copics and Sharpie markers. For the “events” I used stamps from the Sweet Stamp Shop and Studio Calico. I choose the Critters stamp set becuase it reminded me of summer. I really like decorating my planner because it get me to use my washi tape and I do LOVE washi tape. The planner pages are from Webster’s Pages – Color Crush.” Froggie 251

Free Flow Wednesday: (March 23) Hannah Lemieux

Aloha!! This week is flying by, and I won’t lie I feel so unfocused!! But thank goodness it’s Spring Break, so I suppose a little slacking is required right?!!

Today I am up on The Crafty Maven Getaway. I love when I can just do my own thing, scrapping my style! Let’s face it I love to create my own backgrounds. I love to just play on white card stock and make it beautiful. I find using acrylic paints my favorite way to do transform a background.

Today I used the colors from the mood board to pick out paint that matched. I used my fave blue paint (Studio Calico color theory DeJu Vu acrylic paint), copper (Martha Stewart acrylic paint), and then mixed orange and pink together to make a coral color.  I then just painted blocks of color throughout my page. It’s that simple.

I knew I wanted to cut a cut file, my newest obsession, on top of the painted area. I picked a cut file that made me think of the pattern on the inspiration piece. I love that almost chevron looking pattern. ( I got my cut file from The Cut Shoppe,  you can follow the link to Ashley Horton’s Etsy shop to see what cool files she has.)

IMG_0972

I really had fun with patterned paper that matched the inspiration piece, corals and blues. I made pretty big layers, but since I only have one photo I am not worried about space as much.

IMG_5705

To counter balance this I tried to keep my clusters of embellishments on the layers. keeping it all one space helps the layout not look so busy.

I tucked in embellishments that had texture and colors that matched the colors I was already using. This helps keep the layout looking cohesive because I am mixing different companies products together.

IMG_0090

I love all the texture from this cluster!!

IMG_0093

I made my title fairly small because I really wanted it to fit above the photo within the layers. I didn’t want to cover up the cut file at the top. I really was trying to not go crazy all over the layout. It was really hard. Sometimes we just have to go crazy and let go!

Here is a look at her finished layout.

In Your Pocket Tuesday: (March 22) Nurse Lisa

Hi Everyone! It’s Nurse Lisa and I had a lot of fun creating this pocket page for you this week!

The inspiration piece had a teeny, tiny hint of gold in it and since gold is not always my first color of choice, I thought I would challenge myself to use gold in my layout.

march20-26

I had these chipboard pieces in my stash by MAMBI and they worked perfect! I also used a photo sticker from Pink Paislee that said “today”. This was a busy week for me and I wanted to have little bits & pieces of all of my days in my pocket page included: a baby shower I held for a co-worker, the weather, and some beautiful flowers my sister had sent to the hospital where I work for Valentines day. Now these are some of the reasons why I do project life type pages; to savoir these memories. I think Polly shoving her face in the snow was my favorite photo though, I have to admit!! Oh, and now that gold bow finally has a home :=)
