MultiPhoto Love: OMG (Crystal Barrett)

Hello. It’s Crystal and I am up today with a 8 1/2 x 11 multiphoto layout. Lets talk about multiphoto layouts. When I first started scrapbooking I mainly did collages. I would take a whole month of pictures from my son, cut them with decorate scissors, and glue them on a piece of pattern paper. Please tell me that I was not the only one! Fast forward over 14 years and I tend to put just one photo on each page. There are times that I cannot tell a story with one picture (or just don’t want to), but don’t want 12 pages for one day either…

I use a collage app on my phone to combine 2-3 pictures on one 4 x 6 photo. This time I printed 4 pictures on a 5 x 7 photo.

I like doing this. I will leave that in a 4 x 6 size which is my comfort zone or cut them up to be individual photos.

I am working on our anniversary trip to Mexico and decided to do it in 8 1/2 x 11 format. It is much easier for me to have smaller pictures on a smaller page. I am using the Crate Paper Wild Heart as well as Here and There. I added texture with crepe paper.

I have containers on my desk of left embellishments separated by color. So after I have looked thru the emphema that comes with the collection that I am working with I will go thru my left overs. I feel like this is such a good way to use up stash.

Happy Holidays

Hi All!!!

I hope you are all having a FABULOUS Holiday season this year!  I have been in a very festive spirit.  I usually don’t scrapbook a lot of my holidays just because it’s not my typical color palette.  With that being said, you won’t necessarily see traditional fall or winter colors on my layouts like this one, but that’s okay!

Bright pinks and creamy yellows set the tone for this layout.  I started with a little Shimmerz Paints in Sunset Strip and Pop Art Pink, clear gesso, just direct with packaging technique and splatters.  Then I created a cut file for Cheeky Studio to use for this layout named “Holiday Bear”.  I cut the title out on my Silhouette and just backed the letters with scraps from my stash.  I love how the title came out!

Of course I love to make my embellishment clusters, but first laid strips cut from the Norwegian Wood paper line at the bottom of the layout to add a foundation for the title to “sit” on.  My clusters came easily after that.  I pulled the Norwegian Wood ephemera and some of the Wild Flowers #1 ephemera and made three clusters that are “OH SO CUTE” according to my daughter.  I also fussy cut the labels from a project life card from my stash. Aren’t the details lovely?  I even managed to use a few of the leaves and sprigs that I have on my table just waiting for the right layout to come along.  I do have the process video up on my Youtube Channel and on the Crafty Maven Youtube Channel if you would like to see my process and the full layout complete.   Just click HERE to be redirected

Sketch It: Pretty FANTASITIC (Crystal Barrett)

Hello Everyone,

I am up on the channel today with a Sketch it video. I love sketches they are such a great guide for inspiration. I found this sketch from pagemaps and I love it. The stitched circle in the back is what caught my eye. It reminded me of some of the wreaths in the Mood Board this month.

When I start with a sketch the first thing I look at is what pieces of the sketch do I love the best. Then I start digging through my stash. In the case of this sketch I pulled the tag and the journaling block. I pulled an Amy Tan tag with navy writing and a Fancy Pants library card that was mint green.  This is where I started my color scheme. I pulled the rest of the paper from Maggie Holmes Gather and Bloom Collection.

One of my favorite things to do is just go through my scrapbook supplies. I pull items that I love and others that fit in the color scheme. Sometimes if the photo has a theme I might add some themed items. I always pull to much. I find that if I have a ton of options on my table then I don’t spend time going through my stash later. If it is there I will use it.20181205_164108

For the stitched circle I just used a small plate from my kitchen and traced it with a pencil. Then I took it to my sewing machine and spun the paper around 3 times. I really love all the finishing touches with the wood veneer arrows and the sequins (Sweet Things and No Llama Drama from SpiegelMom Scraps).

I would love it if you head over to the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube channel and check out the process video.

Happy Day!

Hi all!  Tuesdae here with a layout that is using up my stash!  Stash it inspires me to use products from my old style stash and my new style stash that needs my attention and yet I may have possibly ignored.   With this layout I enjoyed using some of the Fabrications line from Teresa Collins from 2012.  The dark green and mustard yellow background made the photo pop off the page.IMG_20181204_203513

I have been a bit obsessed with stitching lately and decided that I wanted to frame the inside frame and the outside frame of the layout with a touch of pink and yellow.  It added that texture that I thought was necessary.

I took the A side of the yellow paper which had beautiful flowers and fussy cut them out to use as an embellishment on the page and layed them in each corner of the inner frame. IMG_20181204_203510

Then digging into my “Empty Box” stash I found lots of ephemera, stamps, enamel hearts and puffy stickers from a variety of companies.  After having laid the foundation, it was more than easy to embellish my clusters.  I like to tuck things in her and there and be a bit messy.  As you can tell I pulled out some of my Shimmerz paints in Pop Art Pink and Glorious Day to add some sprinkles in both corners around the clusters.

I thought I was finished and realized that I needed a title to help balance the page.  Some stickers came to my rescue from an old Cheeky Studio kit and I added the title “Happy day” under the photo, near the cluster to the bottom right.  It kind of felt like the title was floating so another small cluster was added to the bottom left of the title to finish up the page.

I really enjoyed making this layout and hope that it inspires you to use your stash, old style and new.  I do have a Youtube video on my channel set for Saturday Dec 8, 2018 here: https://youtu.be/JfCsJIvK-h4 or you can find me on the Crafty Maven Getaway Youtube Channel on the 8th as well.

Sketch-It: Adventure (Jenn Gagne)

Hello, Jenn here!!  I’m up on the channel with a Sketch-it video this week.  I did a little Pinterest search and this sketch by Susan Stringfellow from Sketch Savvy caught my eye.  I like how clean and simple it is, and though it would compliment my photo really well.

The photo I’m scrapping is of my two sons at the top of the Space Needle last summer on our trip to Seattle.  They absolutely loved being able to look down on the city.  They had no fear of being that high up (unlike their sister, who wouldn’t step foot on the glass floor or anywhere near the windows).  I chose my colour scheme based on the aqua colour of the acrylic bench they are sitting on, and went with papers from Pink Fresh Studio, as well as one from Teresa Collins and Kaiser Craft.

I chose I dark blue cardstock as my background because I felt like it really helped the colours in the patters pop.  I followed the sketch pretty closely with the exception of adding a sixth pattern to the columns, and using some cardstock and washi tape for my horizontal lines behind the photo.  I also added some thread to each side of the photo for a little bit of movement to break up all of the straight lines.  I added my title, Adventure, as well as a few small embellishments from a black and white thickers pack, and wrote some journalling using the lines in one of the patterned papers.  I finished the layout with a splatter of lime green spray mist which adds a lot of fun and whimsy.

I love how this layout turned out.  This sketch might look simple, but it’s a great design that really pulls together to create something amazing 🙂  If you’d like to see how I put this all together, hop over to the process video on the Crafty Maven Getaway’s Channel.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and until next time, Happy Scrapping 🙂
